Sending an email based on a Response not working.

Hi

I have a very simple Microsoft teams form. When it gets completed i would like an email to be sent to the people selected on the form. However i just seem to get error messages every time i try.

OpenApiOperationParameterTypeConversionFailed. The 'inputs.parameters' of workflow operation 'Send_an_email_(V2)_2' of type 'OpenApiConnection' is not valid. Error details: Input parameter 'emailMessage/To' is required to be of type 'String/email'. The runtime value '"[\"Olivia.xxxxx@xxxxxx.co.nz\"];Olivia.xxxxx@xxxxxz"' to be converted doesn't have the expected format 'string/email'.

Below is my form i that i built. The answers to question 2 and 3 are who i want the email to send to.

Hi @LIVVY ,

@ekarim2020 , provides a correct solution. I just add a little bit.
In Flow, your operator will appear with ["email@email.com", "email2@email.com", "email3@email.com"] format. Although it looks like an array, it is actually a string. If you use Operator directly in Join, you will get an error.

I recommend using the JSON() formula to convert it into a real array.

Hi @LIVVY

Question 3 Operator is a multi-select field. This means that the responses for Question 3 will be contained within an array because the user can select zero or more options as the response.

For example, if I selected all the Operators:

Snag_1f67ac.png

the response would be stored in an array and look something like this:

["Allen@mail.com", "Andre@mail.com", "Alex@mail.com", "Atarang@mail.com"]

and that array can't be used in the Send an Email action because that action is expecting a string of email addresses.

We can use the Join action to join all of those email addresses in the array to a string that can be used in the Send an Email action

Snag_2c16dd.png

The Join action takes the array ["Allen@mail.com", "Andre@mail.com", "Alex@mail.com", "Atarang@mail.com"] and transform it to a string of email addresses with each email address separated by a semi-colon:  Allen@mail.com;Andre@mail.com;Alex@mail.com;Atarang@mail.com

Use the output of the Join action in the To field of the Send an Email action:

Make sure though that the options in question 2 and 3 are just plain text strings representing the email addresses:

Hope this helps.

Thanks @v-dezhili-msft , I forgot mention the JSON() function to convert the Operator property to an array.
