Updating a calendar event from an email

Hey, I am newish to Flow and looking for some help for what could be a massive time saver. 

 

We have a booking system that sends us an email when a booking is complete and I wanted to update our calendar events when another booking comes in. We may have 6-8 events per day, 5 days a week (each with a unique event name on that day, but that repeats during the week) so currently it is time consuming to update them with the customers names when a booking is complete. 

 

The email from the booking system has the same specific title for all events so i guess the Flow I am looking for would do the following

  • Read the booking email and figure out the which existing calendar event it needs to update (it would have a matching event name,date and start time in the body of the email)
  • Find in the body of the email the new customers name (the email is templated so the name is always in the same specific location)
  • Add and save the new customer name in the body of the calendar event.   

Not 100% where to get started but no there are flows for email, updating events etc.

Could you please share more details about the booking email?

Could you please share more details about the relationship between booking email and existing calendar event?About the matching event name,date and start time in the body of the email?

Have you created a flow to achieve your needs?

 

Please take a try on your side to create the flow and you could share more details about the problem when you create the flow.

Ok, so the email is just a templated standard booking response with the only changing details being the customer name, the session name, time and date. It does have a ICS attachment but that doesnt hold any customer details. Example is;

From a flow part ive started but not been successful,

  • Starting with a "when new email arrives" in which i can add a specific email address and a specific subject filter as for every email they are the same
  • Next i have something to scan the email for the calendar invite - the session name and start time/date. 
  • Somethign to scan the email for the new customers name 
  • Update Event V2 to input the name that it has already scanned. 

As i said im new to flow so the code for scanning the email body is the biggest challegne currently.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities. Users must provide a solution which can be an “Accepted Solution” in the Forums in all of the communities and there are no limits to the number of “Accepted Solutions” that a member can provide for entries in this challenge, but each entry must be substantially unique and different.    Winner Selection and Prizes: At the end of each week, we will list the top ten (10) Community users which will consist of: 5 Community Members & 5 Super Users and they will advance to the final drawing. We will post each week in the News & Announcements the top 10 Solution providers.  At the end of the challenge, we will add all of the top 10 weekly names and enter them into a random drawing.  Then we will randomly select ten (10) winners (5 Community Members & 5 Super Users) from among all eligible entrants received across all weekly Entry Periods to receive the prize listed below.
