Migration to DataVerse using DataFlow Question re Merged Field

Hi,

I am trying to load 2 tables from SQL Server, 1 is called Party which contains person details (name, etc.). It also has a column called Type ID which is a number that is used as a foreign key in SQLS to a code table to translate the ID into a description e.g. Type = "Customer" or "Other"

To try to do this I used merge queries in my DataFlow linking the PartyTypeID to the ID key field of the Code Table. The result is a Type column in the Party table which shows as  [Table] in the row data. 

If I click on one of the [Table] links it seems to have worked:

However, when I refresh the dataflow in DataVerse the column called Party appears to be the column I called Type in the DataFlow but it holds a weird-looking value which looks like it is some kind of key. 

I am very new to PowerApps and I'm confident that this is my fault and equally confident that someone with more experience can tell me what I have done wrong.

Hi,

When you create a table, no matter then name, (ok there are SUPER minor cases when this isn't true), but the Table for instance when its a table you called Party

Will actually show up looking like Parties or Partys (plural) and in the Table, it will hav a Unique Id Field that has the actual Singular name of the table, AKA Party.

And what you see is the Guid from that Field when a new row is created.

Thanks Michael,

I've moved on from my original problem but still not quite got to the final solution. Initially when you merge with a table the resulting column has a value of <Table>. However, from watching YouTube videos I saw that you are then supposed to click the two arrows icon next to the column heading and select the column(s) that you want merged into your table. I did this and now I can see the Party Type in my data view after the merge step: 

However, when I click NEXT in the DataFlow to proceed to the load steps; the new TYPE field does not appear in the list of columns for mapping. I can click on one of the columns that is in the list and change it to TYPE but then I lose a column that I want to map. Secondly, the destination column names are protected so I can't rename them.

I am so close, but not quite there.

Hi,

One other question that I have is that when I get to the load steps if I have a table that I haven't loaded previously the load mapping columns are completely empty (as below). Whereas, tables that I have loaded previously have these columns populated; even though they have been deleted from the database and I have specified load to a NEW table
