Sharing a Dataverse based power app among our team - What license required

In our organization we all are having Office 365 E3 license.

As per the info mentioned in the below link of Microsoft, what I have understood that to have Dataverse application which can be used with power app for development, the user need to have E5 license.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/pricing-billing-skus#power-appspower-automate...

I need to have answer to the following, so that we can update our License accordingly :

a) current E3 can be upgraded to E5 for one user only or need whole teams/organization license to be upgraded.

b) If one user takes E5 license, develop an power app based on the dataverse tables, This developed app can be shared by my other teams members of the same organization having E3 license.

Please advise, so that we can take the correct decision for selection of license.

Hello, @MIA27, if you are building an application that is based on Dataverse, then the developers need E5 license to develop application in a developer environment (Not Sandbox or Production). As for the end-users, they will need premium licenses as E3 nor E5 will allow them to work with applications that are using premium connector once you move your apps to a production environment.

@MIA27, I understand your requirement and thank you for the clarification. E5 license won't be sufficient for Dataverse. Dataverse is a Premium connector, and users will need a premium license to access applications that are using Dataverse as Datasource. Unless you are going to use Dataverse for Teams which is not full version of Dataverse.

@MIA27, Premium license will allow developer to build unlimited applications using Dataverse and it will allow users to access unlimited applications using Dataverse or any other data sources if you are building canvas applications. I would recommend that you meet with your company Microsoft representative/account manager and give them your requirements and they will guide to the best license value you can get.

Dear Ahmed,

Not understood "developer environment (Not Sandbox or Production)"

We all user are already having E3 license and have power app application within the license, which we are already used to developed small mobile app based on sharepoint list and its working fine but as data is growing above 5000 records, due to it performance, deciding to shift one developer license to E5, so that he can develop the app further based on Dataverse table and we all E3 users can share the app.

I hope I explained my requirement

Please advise

Dear Ahmed,

Thank you for your time and advise.

By you advise, I understood that we all user's should upgrade to get PowerApp Premium.

no need moving from E3 to E5.

Even staying in E3, just need power app license premium to get the dataverse.

We saw the link page you provided for license earlier also, our team got confused by the line in the below display image of Microsoft website below:

"Deploy unlimited application"

If any developer will deploy within or external to their organization, the application will have the data linked also,

How it can be deployed without datalink.

OK, the end user should have the powerapp license but what about the data linked with development.

More clarification should be made by Microsoft, I saw many website, so cofused, more than 100 video has been made on license in youtube, why so complicated.

Anyhow, once again thank you, and learning so many things from your advises.

Regards
