Hello all,
after turning on the switch "Improve data source experience and Common Data Service views" the DataSourceInfo returns for all fields (wrong) MinLength and MaxLength. Therefore, validating leads to the following message:
I checked it by creating a test app and applying the formular to label objects and turning on/off the switch.
This is how it looks when the switch is turned on:
Is it the intended behavior of the switch?
Kind regards
Lars
Solved! Go to Solution.
I got an update from the support.
Version 3.19101 is out and fixes the issue.
It turned out that the first information I got from them (That MinLength = 1 for every field is the expected behavior) was not right.
Actually, that was the bug.
After bringing my app to the new version, the MinLength returns 0 and of course, then I also don't get a validation error for missing input anymore.
Hi @Lars4 ,
Based on the issue that you mentioned, I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned. The screenshot as below:
Please consider re-generate a new app based on your CDS Entity, then check if the issue is solved.
Also please consider turn on the "Formula-level error management" option and turn off the "Improved app rendering (finla validation)" option within Advanced settings of App settings of your app, then re-load your app, check if the issue is solved.
Best regards,
Kris, thank you for your reply. To be honest, I think you misunderstood my problem.
Anyways, I just created a new environment, new entity and new app. Afterwards, I changed the settings for both switches you have mentioned. The problem is still there.
My problem is not the error message itself. That one is right based on the values for MaxLength/MinLength. The problem is that the CDS postbacks wrong values for Min and Max (1 and 4000) and therefore, the validation fails.
Note: If you want to reproduce it, create a new entity and label object. Give the text attribute of the label object the following input "DataSourceInfo(MyEntity, MinLength, "pre_MyDatafield")
Sometimes, you have to type in a few chars and delete them again and then try to submit form.
Hi @Lars4 ,
Do you mean that the DataSourceInfo(MyEntity, MinLength, "pre_MyDatafield") formula displayed wrong MinLength value within the Label in your app?
I have made a test on my side, and the issue is confirmed on my side. I would post this issue to my Product Team, if this issue is solved, I would reply here.
Best regards,
Do you mean that the DataSourceInfo(MyEntity, MinLength, "pre_MyDatafield") formula displayed wrong MinLength value within the Label in your app?
That is exactly what I mean, yes.
If the switch is turned on, the value is 1.
If the switch is turned off, the value is Blank. (This value is the one I would expect because I don't have any MinLength defined for the entity)
Thanks. I will be patient.
Hi Kris,
any update on this?
Did product team confirm that the issue is a bug?
Regards
Lars
Hi Kris,
any update on this?
Regards, Lars
Hi @Lars4 ,
This issue has been fixed within Production Environment in PowerApps. Please consider take a try with it, check if the issue is solved.
Best regards,
Hi Kris,
thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, the problem is not fixed for me.
While MaxLength is now returning the value I set in Entity definition and not 4000 anymore, the MinLength still returns 1 for both my existing app and a new app in a new environment.
For testing purposes I created a new environment with new database (Production, Europe, English, EUR) and a new app from scratch.
Session ID: dbfa3b42-374e-4b23-b6df-cc51692b9897
PowerApps 3.19092.12
In my existing app I have removed all connectors, saved&published, closed browser, added CDS connector, removed and added the label with the formular.
Any update on this?
Kind regards
