look up column values are not displaying in the model driven app

Guys,

I've 2 tables Books & Usecases

In the Books table i've created a lookup column to fetch values from table "Usecases"
I've created few records in the usecases table. But after publishing the values in the usecases columns are not displayed.

Can you advise why the columns are showing as empty ?

I see you are showing rows from the Books table but I do not see any rows from the usecases table.

Couple things here:

1.  Can you show the definition of "TheToy" lookup column on the Books table?  This is a Lookup to the Usecases table right?

2.  Can you show the "The Toy" field on your view of the books to verify this is populated when you created the book?

My thought here is you are not connected to the Usecases table on the book (i.e. the The Toy to the usecases table) and if you show the lookup value for that field it will not be populated.  Or it is connected to a usecases record that is not populated.

To validate, create sample data in usecase table and associate those records to book table record.

Hi @skolisetti ,

Can you please show a screen shot of the form for the Book record where you have populated the usecase field?  I do not see this in any screenshot.  If you populate the Usecase column on the main form for the Book and save you should see all the values filled in as you will have related the two tables.

Example below.  Exposed the Department Value on the form (which is a Lookup field on the Widget to the Department table) and populated this with one of the departments.

Show this field and other fields from the Department table on the Widget view:

Follow as @dpoggemann mentioned.

Assume widget as books and department value as toy. Open any book record and associate toy record in lookup field, which has both first and last name in it.

Drew, thanks a lot i think i'm close to the results. Just to avoid confusion i created a brand new simple app with 2 tables Customers and Orders tables. Created Lookup column in Order table to fetch customers. 

But when i select the lookup record it is displaying as "No Name" instead of customer details can you please advise ? PFA

It looks like you haven't populated name field that generates automatically while creating an entity, like a primary field.

Populate value in that field if it is a text field.

Sorry i'm confused can you eloborate the steps . Please find attached customers table and the custom columns i've created .
