Hello. I am having an issue where the "Modified" date from SharePoint is wrong in my flow. I know SharePoint sets the time to be that of my timezone so I'm wondering if there's a way to see what the timezone for my Environment is since I assume Flow is basing its time on that.
Is there a way to change the timezone of my Environment? Thank you.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The default regional settings are per user and based on the browser. You can override that using the Gear menu in Power Apps.
Its not the timezone of your environment. Its the timezone for the server running SharePoint in Office 365. You can change the timezone used for a specific site in the Site Settings > Regional Settings for that site. I'm in the eastern timezone, but my SharePoint Online uses Pacific time.
My Flow can show the right time to match the one in SharePoint when I convert it to PST (timezone in my SharePoint site). But when I don't convert it, the modified time in Flow doesn't match the one in SharePoint. My SharePoint is set to PST but when I pull its data into Flow the modified times don't match up making me wonder if Flow is converting it to another timezone automatically and I'm wondering how to find out what that timezone is.
I don't want to force my Flow to convert the modified by time to PST since I don't know what timezone the people using the SharePoint site could be in. My worry is that the time in SharePoint won't match the one in the Flow which will cause confusion.
In general, yes it is converting the timezone automatically. SharePoint actually stores the date/time in UTC, but displays it on a SharePoint page in the default timezone for the SharePoint server. This can be overridden in the site settings or the regional settings of the user. It evaluates in the order of (SharePoint, site settings, user settings) with the last one found taking precedence.
Power Apps knows that the time in SharePoint is stored in UTC so it will also try to automatically convert it to the regional settings for the User in Power Apps. These settings can also be changed in Power Apps but will normally default to the browser settings.
AS you can see its tricky because there are a lot of different layers that can affect the date/time. Doing a deliberate conversion is usually the only way to get control.
So the timezone in Power Apps is based on my browser? The timezone in my browser is Pacific Time though and my Flow doesn't match that. Does "regional settings for the User in Power Apps" mean its per user? Or is this in the environment?
The Environment I am using is set to Canada and my Share Point site is set to Pacific Time. Is there a way to see the timezone of your environment, flow and Power Apps and how do I change them? Thank you.
The default regional settings are per user and based on the browser. You can override that using the Gear menu in Power Apps.
I Can't see/get this on our Sharepoint Online... (modern template?)
Can you help?
Thanks in advance.
This isn't on the SharePoint site. Its in the Power Apps console.
Sorry... My bad... Thanks for answering.
Reading a lot of threads here with similar screenshots for Sharepoint Sites and comments on Power Apps not having a menu to set location, led me to not see what was clearly in front of my eyes on your screenshots. Also, I don't have visibility of the menus for settings, help or notifications on Power Apps:
Guess I have to check with SysAdmin.
Thanks again.
Hi,
The SysAdmin People say they can change the Sharepoint Online default timezone used for a specific site in the Site Settings > Regional Settings mentioned on the #2 message above. (which I can't see, but they can).
However, although they see the Power Apps "gear" menu that I can't see as a user, they also can't see the option for the timezone on the Power Apps console "Gear" menu showed on #6 message above.
Can someone help-me please? Could it be that de SysAdminOp needs some additional authorizations from the master SySAdmin for Power Apps Console?
Thanks in advance.
