Solution upgrade to production- changes from test aren't reflecting

Hi,

I made changes to my powerapp in my unmanaged solution in my sandbox environment.

I exported the solution as a managed solution and imported it in my default environment.

The old solution is 1.0.0.6 and the new is 1.0.07.

The old powerapp version inside the solution is 1.0.0.6 and it should update to 1.0.0.7 once the new managed solution has been imported and upgraded right?

Problem is that the powerapp where I made the changes in test is not updating with the changes I made and I can see the label I left on the welcome screen shows the old version number. 

I made sure to save and publish the changes in the powerapp in test and when I exported the solution as unmanaged I did publish all customisations.

I'm at a loss. Why doesn't my powerapp update with my changes?

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you check if the app has any unmanaged layers applied to it in your target environment? If there is an active unmanaged layer then it will take precedence over any managed layers.

Many thanks for your help with this. What you say makes sense as I was able to edit the app in production. 

I'm new to solutions and environments so I don't know how to check this and how to change it.

Hi @Anonymous,

Here are steps to view unmanaged layers for a component. Further down in the docs also explain how to remove an unmanaged layer. I will caution though that removing an unmanaged layer will remove any unamanaged customizations made directly in that environment.

I would generally avoid making changes directly in production as this will result in differences between your Environments and inconsistency in behavior.

When you say the remove layer did nothing, do you mean that the unmanaged layer is still there, or that it's gone but your app is still showing old changes? If the latter, you can try to publish the app so it reflects the current changes.

What sorts of changes were applied in the unmanaged layer? Were there any new dependencies added directly in the default environment that weren't present in the sandbox environment?

Hi @ChrisPiasecki ,

I marked your first answer as the solution. The mistake was mine. I was trying to remove the unmanaged layer in the test environment. When I read your post again I saw you said "Target" environment. I was able to remove it and my changes from test now shine through.
