I have the contact entity on an entity form and want to populate the field with the logged in user.
The documentation refers to the 'record source type' field which I am not seeing. See screenshots. Its' driving me mad!
Thanks, Richard
Solved! Go to Solution.
I did make some progress. Partly because the 'additional settings' page is blank BUT you can page down and see more options. Duuh.
Here we go I thought six hours ago but have since tried every option possible including deleting and recreating the entity form, trying every other option and reading the help text four times from top to bottom, even printing it off.
A recent config screen shot is attached but still nothing come through automatically populated with the contact. This should be so simple. I've configured the field in the form every different way I can. It appears as a dropdown and can be selected but I don't even know whether this should happen if I want to populate it, should it be on the form? if I do manually click a contact that happily comes back into the entity but this is not the experience desired.
Hi @tacklers2 ,
Based on the issue that you mentioned, I think you have some misunderstanding with "Record Resource Type" property within Entity Form in Portal.
The "Record Resource Type" property is only visible when the Mode property set to "Edit" or "Read Only" as below:
If you want to configure the "Associate Current Portal User on Insert" when the Mode property is set to "Insert", please consider switch to the "Additional Settings" tab, then you could configure it there:
Please consider take a try with above solution, check if the issue is solved.
Best regards,
Hi Kris thanks for the advice which I tried with a few variations but cannot get it to work. (Note not sure why your screenshot shows 'entity form metadata' column heading twice?) 1. I deleted all my metadata entry records and set the General tab with edit mode as you suggest but no contact details appeared. 2. I changed the additional settings and tried as well but nothing happened. 3. I want the contact to be populated automatically so don't want the column and drop down choice appearing for the user, how should I hide it or is it confusing the situation. 4. Currently on the 'Entity Reference' tab with 'Set entity reference on save' as YES the Entity Logical name = contact with a rop down of Contact(contact) Relationship Name cre5d_Worker_Contact_Contact drop down Contact(cre5d_Worker_Contact_Contact) Target Lookup Attribute Logical Name cre5d_contact dropdown Contact(cre5d_contact) Populate lookup field ticked and unticked runs. 'Entity Reference Source' 'Reference Entity Source Type' 'Record Associated to Current Portal User' Record Source Relationship Name Contact_customer_contacts dropdown Company Name(Contact_customer_contacts) - I cannot find this documented anywhere, does it help or do any harm? Do you know if there is a demo entity form already prepopulated on the CDM that I could refer to to see how it should work? Your screen shots are very helpful but only show part of the picture. I guess that setting up a one field entity with link to a contact on a form on putting it on an entity form would be a quick way to demo how it works or do you know where I could see it?
Do u want to display it on UI as well prefilled or just save that field when the record is saved. This is actually an option which is available in entity form metadata.
These would be the steps
a) Go to your existing Entity form
b) Create New Entity form metadata
c) In entity form metadata, select type as attribute
d) You will see two options in the bottom saying "Prepopulate on form" and "prepopulate on save"
