Failed to extract text from webpage

Hi

I need to extract a certain text(DC4Router) from webpage whose position keeps changing . Below is a template of a webpage that appears eachtime but the text within this webpage is dynamic

ayush1tyagi_1-1689853712725.png

I want to extract area marked in grey i.e DC4Router red marked area after that (it contains 11 digits)

11 REPLIES 11

Hi @ayush1tyagi

Would data extraction to be done at specific location or extraction needed for all simmilar elements like that ?

us extract data from webpage as solution for that and then do string/text methods to remove other text data marked in red 🙂

hi @Nived_Nambiar

Above attached webpage is just a portion of the whole webpage . The data to be extracted DC4Router plus 11 digits as marked in red following the text(DC4Router) will appear only once in the webpage but its position is dynamic

Hi @ayush1tyagi

I think this can be acheieved by tuning the selector for it, could you show the selector properties while selecting the data value using extract data from webpage action ?

Also show the html component of webpage by right clicking on that element and select Inspect Element option so that we can design a good and stable selector for data extraction 🙂

Below attached are the two instances(inspect element) for the text to be extracted

Hi @ayush1tyagi

Could you use this selector to extract the data try using get web element details action or get data from webpage

span:contains("DC4Router") + span[class="document-id"]

Let me know if it worked for you 🙂

In which element to add selector I have used this activity

Opened the get details of element on web page selector need to know where to add the statement provided by you

Hi @ayush1tyagi

Follow the below steps

1. enable the Text editor option

Nived_Nambiar_0-1689863348074.png

2. write the selector which i have provided like below

Nived_Nambiar_1-1689863392403.png

3. Test the selector by clicking on Test option above. ensure the screen where the uielement is present, see whether the ui element is highlighted or not?

4. If yes, you can click save and then in Get details from webpage, ensure that you have selected the attribute like below

Hope it helps !

I actually think that the selectors should be slightly different, assuming that the text "DC4Router" could be dynamic.

You might need to use two separate Get details of element on web page actions with two selectors:

  1. To get the text "DC4Router": div[Class="service-name"] > span:eq(0)
  2. To get the Id: div[Class="service-name"] > span[Class="document-id"]

I have tried both the solutions suggested but they didn't worked

ayush1tyagi_0-1689918198113.png

First i tried the method suggested by @Nived_Nambiar by unchecking all the selectors for the element and inputing the selector provided but it gives the no UI element found error

Secondly I tried capturing theDC4Router and ID separately and then unchecking all the default selectors and inputing the selectors suggested but they also didn't worked

ayush1tyagi_2-1689919151184.png

Last screenshot depicts what all elements were by default checked so i unchecked and inputed the suggested selectors I have done this for all the three elements captured by Get details of element on web page

As I need this to be done urgently i used extract data from window activity twice one for DC4Router and for ID with a condition that it should starts with 3 (I know this is not acceptable as ID won't be starting everytime with  3 ) but for now i am sticking to this

I would suggest using the Get details of web page to extract the page source and then using Parse text with regular expressions to extract the values from the source. Could come back with the specific regex, if you shared the page source.
