Isssue with the "From"

I have a challenge where I cannot add more than one email address from the 'From' field.  I have different clients that sends us email attachment within the same company.  I've tried everything so far no luck.  I can only use one email.  To test it, I add two email addresses with an attached file, but when I ran the script nothing happen.  But if I remove one email and ran it, the script works.  Anyone have any idea on how to do this?  Thank you!

You get emails from different people, but when you add the emails to that from field you are telling it to retrieve the emails that are from both people at once.  That's not possible.  You'll need to create a different version of the script for each person you want to get process. What you want is a From field that assumes and "OR" but this one assumes an "AND"

I don't understand what you mean by create a different version.  Can you give me an example by sharing a screenshot?

Just to clarify both person that send email at the same time.  One of the client might send an email attachment on this day, the other person might send an attachment on a different day.  But both belong to the same company. I just want to cover both emails whoever that send an email with with the attached file, I want the script to go and grab it, download it, rename it, and save it to a network folder.

Use Create a Copy in the context menu of the designer to make a copy of the desktop flow. Then change the From field in that copy to the other person's email.

The point is that two people can't send a single email.  Two people can each send an email.  But if you put both names in the From field you are telling the flow to find all the emails where the From field contains both emails.  That can't happen.  One email will contain one and the other email will contain the other.  You will never get an email where the From has both email addresses in it at the same time.

Good point.  So that's mean I am going to have more than one retrieve email in the script to capture all the emails.

For example, if three people send me an email, I will have three steps of 'Retrieve Exchange email messages' right?

If you want to do it with just one desktop flow then yes you would need three actions to cover three people.

If they send me an email with 3 attachments and I need to rename each file as unique name.  For example, let say someone (jeanrobert@fivebleow.com) in Five Below company send me 3 attached files and I need to download each file and rename each file as Five Below_1.xlsx, Five Below_2.xls, and Five Below_3.xlsx, is that the right approach? Do I need to repeat the entire process for someone else from Five Below that sends me 2 or 3 attached files?

I would make processing the email a subflow that you call and pass the needed information to from the main flow. That way you can pass the list of attachments to the subflow and it won't matter which person sent the email.

Very Good Dual Super User.  I will try that and let you know my progress.  Thank you very much for responded very quickly to my issue.

Hello everyone,

I spent so much times on my script and asked everyone help and Googling some stuffs myself, now today I open PAD and everything that I worked for are gone.  I thought the software have an auto-save, but now I don't even document or take a screenshot of anything what I did in the past.  It looks like the last time I worked on it is between 2/23/23 - 3/2/23. My question, is there a way I can get the previous stuffs that I worked for?  I don't even know where to begin and this is so shocking to me.  So today (3/23/23) make a month since I open the application. Please any idea will help and thank you an advance.

Power Automate Desktop does not have an Auto save function as far as I know. The Directory you listed in your private message to me is the cache location for the desktop client.  If there is nothing there and the flows don't show up in the Desktop flows list in Power Automate then I don't know of any way to get them back.

Thank you sir and you're so kind.  I was able to recreated all the steps base on your note and some other note from other users.  I also make a document somewhere else with a screenshot and keep clicking save as many times I can.  Yes, I learn a BIG lesson.  Thank so much for your reply!

Hello Sir,
I have a little bit of challenge concerning the Subflows. I took you advice to create a subflows, but I create one subflow and add two email address, it won't rename the file for some reason. I receive an error that it cannot find the file to rename, but if I create another subflow and put the other email address it did it with no issue. I have company that contain more than 5 people with email address. I thought I can out all the 5 people one sub and then if I have a different company have let say 3 people, I can create another sub and these 3 people in it. The way PAD let me do it so far that I need to a subflows for each individual that have email and that make no sense. Please let me know how I can make it work with all the email within the company on one subflows.

Are you sure all the email messages you are retrieving have attachments?  I don't see anything in your flow that filters out the emails that don't have attachments.  The loop you are running won't be able to find a file if the attachment is missing.

yes, I am testing two different email addresses and both have attachments.  One email have 4 attachments and the second email have 3 attachments.  When I try to debug the flow, it looks like it rename the wrong file. And then it bring an image file .png that I need to delete.  I don't know how to tell the flow to filters out the email that don't have attachments.  This is how the output look like when I retrieve the attachment from the email addresses.  I don't know what to do next.  First it rename the wrong file and then it keeps looking for Image001 (2).png to rename.  I try to delete the .png first before the rename, I am still getting the same error.

The image files are probably part of a signature for the email. You could add an if at the top of the loop to ignore files that have a .png extension.

I'm not sure what the rename problem is, but why are you parsing a combination of the From and To to get the value you want to use to rename? Shouldn't both entries in the first line be From?
