Troubleshooting Chrome Control Loss

Hello,

I have a desktop workflow that navigates through various UI elements on a website, it then triggers an action to launch a new Chrome window in the "Attach to Running Instance" using foreground window mode (this is to launch a form menu related to the UI element selected.) Initially, it runs smoothly, but then fails mid-run when it encounters the failure of losing control of the Chrome browser. I am running the flow on a remote desktop. Has anyone else encountered and resolved this issue? I've  reviewed all my actions, but I cannot identify any factors that would cause the loss of control during this particular action. Note, I have also seen where it randomly closes the general instance of Chrome when it runs into this issue as well.

Error Message:
"Failed to assume control of Chrome. Although Chrome windows exist, none of them were brought to the foreground within the remaining timeout period of 30 seconds. Please ensure that the correct window is in focus and that there are no other windows or applications obstructing the view."

Can you use a different method to attaching to the new window? By using the URL, or the title of the page? This is usually more stable. My experience is that using the foreground window doesn't really work too well.

It may be due to if anything opens in the browser sometimes url changes for some pop ups or getting into new page

So check the url of for 2 to 3 times and check the dynamic part

If it is happening then take that value by using regex and store it into variable

And then pass the variable into the url

For further clarification please provide some screenshots

Hope this helps

@Agnius Thank you. Its more stable by using the URL but because the URL has a dynamic value, I had to use a shorten version of it which is now resulting in the launch taking longer than 30 seconds to load. Any suggestions on optimizing this?

@UshaJyothi20 Thank you. Yes, it has a dynamic value and it changes with each pop-up so I am not sure how I would set the variable for it. If I attempt to collect the URL to extract the dynamic value for the first index, then its the same action of launching Chrome.

Nope, I don't have ideas for optimizing it. Would it work with the title of the page?

You can do one thing

Compare urls of 2 or 3 times by running your flow

See which value is dynamic. Extract the dynamic value using regex from the url and

Store the dynamic value into a variable

Then pass the variable between the static part of the url then try

Hope this helps
