UI Element Issue

Hey guys,

Hoping to get some help on this one. I've had my flows working fine but after a software update that PAD is automating on, it doesn't seem to be detecting UI elements properly now. One thing that I have noticed failing is the 'Extract Data from Window', where it is not able to find the UI element to extract data from.

The fix I've found is to re-define the UI elements and point the workflow to the new UI elements for it to work. When comparing both old and new UI elements, they appear to be the same. I've tried the repair function, doesn't work.

Comparison here:

Old UI Extract
:desktop > window[Process="Microsoft.Dynamics.YYY.Client"]
> pane[Id="{0000002A-0000-0000-0108-0000836BD2D2}"]
> pane[Id="LayoutPlaceholder"]
> pane[Id="content"]
> pane[Id="contentAndMessagesPlaceholder"]
> pane[Id="ContentPlaceholder"]
> pane[Id="{0000002A-0000-0001-0008-0000836BD2D2}"]
> group[Id="{0000002A-0000-0081-0008-0000836BD2D2}"]
> edit[Id="{0000002A-0000-0081-0008-0000836BD2D2}"]

New UI Extract
:desktop > window[Process="Microsoft.Dynamics.YYY.Client"]
> pane[Id="{0000002A-0000-0000-0108-0000836BD2D2}"]
> pane[Id="LayoutPlaceholder"]
> pane[Id="content"]
> pane[Id="contentAndMessagesPlaceholder"]
> pane[Id="ContentPlaceholder"]
> pane[Id="{0000002A-0000-0001-0008-0000836BD2D2}"]
> group[Id="{0000002A-0000-0081-0008-0000836BD2D2}"]
> edit[Id="{0000002A-0000-0081-0008-0000836BD2D2}"]

Does anyone else know where else I can have a look for any UI element differences?

Did you create that new UI element under the same UI screen?

Does your UI element have to refer to those random number ids? Can you change them to refer to some other attributes? Sometimes those random number Ids might change and there for PAD doesn't find the element.

Hey @eetuRobo,

As you can see above, the element details were taken before and after the update and are exactly the same.

I don't see what or why it is broken. Is there another part of PAD I can check for any differences?

Have you checked the parent Window element of these UI elements? It also has its own selector usually.

Hey @Agnius,

Yup parent UI element has been copied and pasted on the first line of both old and new UI extract:

:desktop > window[Process="Microsoft.Dynamics.YYY.Client"]

Okay. Are you using variables in your selectors in any way? Usually, it is quite normal for UI elements to change after an update on the target software. But I don't see any changes there. This is actually quite weird. I have no other suggestions, other than trying to recapture all of the relevant selectors. It might be that some of them really did change.
