Canvas app - filter table to show one shelter in a gallery?

I'm forging ahead and trying to set up my canvas app, figuring I'll just fix the table data later instead of focusing on it for two weeks. 

My plan is to have a welcome page with navigation buttons for each of the shelters, and each shelter will have its own page. On each shelter page there will be a gallery connected to the Animals table, filtered to show the animals at that shelter.  I'm trying a power fx formula to get there. 

In my Animals table that column is called 'Initial Shelter ID' and is a lookup to the ShelterID column in the Shelters table, somehow showing up as the shelter's name.

This formula gives me all animals: Filter((Animals),'Animals (Views)'.'Active Animals')

This is what I've figured out so far, with the following error messages: Filter((Animals),'Animals (Views)'.'Active Animals','Initial Shelter ID'.'Hooves Haven Rescue Clinic') 

"The function 'Filter' has some invalid arguments"

"Name isn't valid. "Hooves Haven Rescue Clinic" isn't recognized."

How do I fix this?

I got it! I had to change the column type from choice to text. 

Filter((Animals),'Animals (Views)'.'Active Animals','Initial Shelter'="Hooves Haven Rescue Clinic")
