Power BI - How to find the trends????

Hello, 

I updated the date of arrivals and fosters so that some of the animals fell within the last 3 months. I was able to create cards to show number of rescues/arrivals and fosters in the past month. However, I CANNOT figure out how to get 3-month trends. 

I was able to create a measure for TypeCount after finding a formula in someone else's post.

But I am not able to filter this by date. I made a dimDate table like in the videos and created a Date hierarchy for month and year, then filtered it for 2024 and May/June/July. I have a screenshot of this matrix attached.

So I have a table that reflects how many of each type of animal was rescued/arrived at the shelter over the past 3 months. I imagine I can figure out a similar process for fostered animals. How can I show the most rescued or fostered type though?

Hi Morgan,

You can use something like a bar, donut or pie chart to show the trends.

You can also use a measure like this and plot it against Animal Type.

Total Animals Fostered last 3 Months = (CALCULATE(COUNT(AnimalDetails[Animal Details]), DATESINPERIOD('AnimalDetails'[Date of Foster].[Date], TODAY(), -3, MONTH)))

Hi @Oyin, thank you for your response. Did you add a [Date] measure to your AnimalDetails table? I tried to copy/paste the code and enter in my own table name, but had an error for the [Date of Foster].[Date] component. Similarly, when I tried to add the measure to my dimDate table, I had an error for Animals.
