I am trying to set up a flow which checks for new email arriving in a shared mailbox. In Outlook I was able to add the Shared Mailbox, so I am granted to see it and read the shared mailbox.
But when I create the flow, I need to enter the mailboxname, and then I want to select the folder to check the email. But no folder is discoverable. The message is "Resource could not be discovered".
What's wrong? I am able to use the shared mailbox in Outlook, but not by using Power Automate.
Was this shared inbox, converted from user inbox to Shared inbox? Is your account configured in the connections of the action, can you double check? Sometimes Power Automate has issues connecting to shared mailbox.
To answer your question: The shared inbox has not been convered from a user inbox.
I do not understand the question if my account is configured in the connections of the action. From the picture you see that the action starts with "When a new mail arrives in a shared mailbox". And there I only need to configure name of the shared mailbox and normally you should be able to select the folder (inbox), but that does not show up.
FYI: In Outlook I am able to use the shared mailbox and I can also send emails from that shared mailbox to others.
Sometimes, if you have used another account for outlook action, the flow might use another account by default, that is why i asked you to check the account configured in the connection of the action.
From your screenshot, I see a semicolon after the mailbox address value, can you please remove that semicolon and try if you are able to select folder?
Hi.
I removed the semicolon, but that didn't help.
I'm sorry, but then I don't understand your question: "to check the account configured in the connection of the action". Where should I check this? Because the first action is to check the shared mailbox and that doesn't give me the right folder of that inbox. Actually it is not showing any folder of that shared mailbox.
In order to check which account is being used in action, click on three dots (...) of action and you will see the selected account under My Connections the popup, as shown in below screenshot
After removing the semicolor, do you still see the error when you try to view folders, or it is not giving error and not showing the folders?
Even when I create the connection and enter the name of the shared Mailbox as an account, it ends up with showing my own account in this list. Now I have many connections with my account being shown.
Adding new connection does not help, even if I enter shared mailbox address as login it will just create duplicated connection of my main mailbox.
And about removing the semicolon: That didn't help because I still cannot see the folders.
Okay, are you still facing the same error? or its a different error, that would help me to further help you.
Sometimes this needs to be escalated to MS Support as it could be a specific case that needs to be resolved, usually using shared mailbox in this action should work without any issues. You can also try creating new shared mailbox and use it in the flow and see if that works, if that works, then it could be something related to specific mailbox you are trying to use.
Yes, I am still facing the same error:
- Adding a shared mailbox as first part of the flow, does not show me the folders of that shared mailbox.
And what we noticed was:
Adding a new connection of the shared mailbox, adds a connection showing my own account.
Hello @Anonymous ,
I would also suggest that you create a support ticket from your M365 portal to get help on this issue with microsoft.
Did you try using any other Shared Mailbox or create a new one and try to use it with your Flow, does that work, just trying to drill down on what the issue is as the error that you are getting is very generic.
I tried another shared mailbox: same problem. I am no administrator, so I cannot create any shared mailboxes by myself.
Next, I don't know how to create a support ticket and whether I am allowed to create a support ticket.
Thanks for your support.
Hi @Anonymous,
could you use a trial Office 365 subscription to be an administrator and a flow developer in the same time?

Thanks for your support. But no, In our organization I am not allowed to do anything of that. I cannot install software on my laptop, and they for sure won't let me be an admin.
Hi @Anonymous, in case you really want to solve the problem you can subscribe to Office 365 as a person using your home computer. But certainly you have to decide if it's worth it to you.

Don't know exactly what it means: subscribe to O365 as a person. But even when I could do that and it worked, then still I have the same problem at work. And that is what I want to solve.
Why can't I see the folder from the shared mailbox when setting up in Power Automate. Is it because a shared mailbox is not designed for direct log in? Is it because a shared mailbox is kept in disabled state? Maybe there is another problem?

It looks like the account you are using to run the flow has insufficient rights on the shared mailbox. But you have already checked this.
