Making given parameter containing both string and an integer into a condition

Hi guys, I'm looking into how to make a given data from an excel sheet into a condition in a Condition connector. The below screenshot shows set of data in the excel sheet:

image.png

The screenshot illustrates the data in an excel sheet with various alert types: "Red 1", "Red 2", "Red 3", "Red 4", "Red 5". Based on what I have understood, for instance, "Red 1" in the excel sheet contains the word "Red" and a digit "1". I'm looking into how to make the parameter "Red 1" which contains a combination of a string and an integer into a condition in a Condition connector, illustrated in the below screenshot:

image.pngWhen using the condition connector, I understand that if I want to make an integer type of data into a condition in the Condition connector, I would need to format it into an integer. For example, the code would be:

int(items('Apply_to_each')?['Example']). Likewise, for a text, I would need to format it into a string using the following code:

items('Apply_to_each')?['Example'].

In this scenario, the data I'm using for example, "Red 1" contains both a string and an integer from [Alert Type]. I want to make it into a condition in the Condition connector such that if [Alert Type] is < 4, [Alert Type] would focus on parameters of "Red 1", "Red 2" and "Red 3" according to the condition, then go to the next step.

Therefore, in summary:

Finding out what to put in the Condition connector to make the data in [Alert Type] from the excel sheet illustrated from the above screenshot into a condition in the Condition connector, putting into consideration that the data in [Alert Type] have both string and integer elements.

I would appreciate any techniques or methods available! Thank you!

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

Ooohhh that's interesting! Based on your above post, looking at the screenshot below:

DelDev_2-1717721121826.png

If I want to just display the text vertically annotated by the red circle, I just need to use the "Create HTML Table" action to achieve that right?

Hi , @Del-Dev

Yes, you are right! 😁

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

I have tried doing it with the "Create HTML table" action and I have encountered an error and I don't understand why that is so. Below is the screenshot of the error message:

Below are the screenshots of my input for "Filter Array" and "Create HTML table" action:

Hi , @Del-Dev

You need to replace this expression here:

vyueyunmsft_0-1717726276083.png

body('Filter_array')

instead of

outputs('Filter_array')?['body/value']

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions! I'm not sure whether you have used the Telegram Bot Message connector in Power Automate before. In this post, we have discussed on how to display the "Red1", "Red2", "Red3" and so on in the email body vertically. I was wondering whether you have any idea whether the output of the "Create HTML Table" could also be applied to the text body of the Telegram Bot message connector such that the "Red1", "Red2" and "Red3" could be sent out vertically?

Hi , @Del-Dev

I have not used the  Telegram Bot Message connector.

But you can try use the expression .

join(body('Select') , Line breaks supported in Telegram Bot Message )

In the forum, we generally solve a problem one case at a time, you can try to open a new case to ask, so that there will be more professional people to help you solve the problem~

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

No worries, all's good! It just came to my mind on whether we could do the same thing in the Telegram Bot since we are able to accomplish that in email. Will clarify any furthermore queries regarding about our current discussion here again

HI , @Del-Dev

You can try to use this expression to test:
join(body('Select') , decodeUriComponent('%0A') )

decodeUriComponent('%0A') means '\n'

And in outlook , you can use this expression to add line break.

join(body('Select') , '<br>')

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

I was testing with the expression that you have suggested by adding in the "Select" action before the "Create HTML Table". But I realised that the fields in the "Select" action from your screenshot is not the same as the one I'm using now. Below are the screenshots:

(This is from your screenshot)

(This is from my Power Automate)

Is there difference between these two?

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

After I ran the whole flowgraph, I have an error for the "Create HTML Table":

DelDev_0-1717739062425.png

Here is what I put for the "Create HTML Table" action after adding in the "Select" action:

Hi , @Del-Dev

You need to check if you contain the [Severity] column name in your side.

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

My bad. This is the one with [Alert Type]:

DelDev_0-1717741072961.png

Hi , @Del-Dev

Oh sorry. The "Create html table" input should select the [value] from "List rows present in a table" action.

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

I have tried the expression, join(body('Select') , decodeUriComponent('%0A')) managed to accomplish what I would expect during testing in the Telegram bot in a way that it only displays like that:

Red2

Red3

The header "Alert Type" from the "Create HTML Table" did not appear in the text.

Hi , @Del-Dev

Yes , this is only display the text using "join(body('Select') , decodeUriComponent('%0A'))".

If you want to display the output of "Create html table" , you need to select it in your action.

vyueyunmsft_0-1717743555758.png

And i am not surely that the Telegram bot support the html code.

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

Since the header wasn't displayed in the Telegram message, I tried to label it in my own way:

DelDev_1-1717744520185.png

From here, I thought the expected outcome would be:

Severity: Red2

              Red3

But after running the flowgraph, it is generated as follows:

DelDev_0-1717744451156.png

HI , @Del-Dev

You can try to use thsi code:
join(body('Select') , concat( decodeUriComponent('%0A') ,'         ') )

Or:

concat ( 'Severity:' , decodeUriComponent('%0A') , join(body('Select') , decodeUriComponent('%0A') ) )

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

Thanks for the suggestions! I feel that the expression:

join(body('Select') , concat( decodeUriComponent('%0A') ,'         ') ) was the ideal one for me. Previously, I have used the "Filter Array" action for my [Alert Type] as my condition. What if I have another condition for [Count], when count is more than 8? Do I use the second "Filter Array" action for my 2nd condition for the [Count]? Below is the screenshot of my data in an excel sheet:

DelDev_0-1718021680914.png

I am interested to know if there is another condition besides the [Alert Type], where [Count] is > 8, how to display all the data from the excel sheet in a format at one go illustrated below:

Alert Type: Red2

Count: 9

Compass: North

Heat Level: Intense Hot

Alert Type: Red3

Count: 18

Compass: South

Heat Level: Cold

How do I display the above format in the text body with the existing condition for the [Alert Type] and a new condition where [Count] > 8?

Hi @v-yueyun-msft,

Thanks for the suggestions!
