I reported this issue on Oct. 19, 2020 and want to check again if this is resolved.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a flow that sends an email using the Send an email from a Shared Mailbox (V2) action. I set some parameters inside the email body so that the email message is made based on values from a SharePoint list.  Here is a screenshot.

ScreenshotScreenshot

My issue was that one of the parameters (decision note in yellow highlight) didn't get the full value from a field on a SharePoint list.

I noticed that Power Automate interpreted a special character (<) within the decision note field as an HTML tag, which made the column value cut off.

Below is the data saved in the decision note field.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Continue to fill latest-year requests via ILL (utilize FT databases for 2003-embargo). Decision based on 3-yr ILL cost history (</= $640) vs 3-yr subscription ($2832). Will retain on Wish List and monitor ILL requests (reconsider if no longer cost-effective or FT availability via aggregator changes).

Data sent out from a Shared Mailbox is as below

Continue to fill latest-year requests via ILL (utilize FT databases for 2003-embargo). Decision based on 3-yr ILL cost history (

The remaining value got cut off.

</= $640) vs 3-yr subscription ($2832).

Can you let me know if this issue has been resolved?

Thank you!

Hello,

In your SharePoint list settings, do you know if the column configuration setting for "The type of information in this column is:" has the option "Multiple lines of text" selected instead of "Single line of text"? Give that a try and let me know if it helps!

Regards,

Jordan

Hi Jordan,

There is no issue with SharePoint. The column type is multiple lines of text and it got the full message saved in the column.

I formatted an email message using HTML tags in Power Automate. When Power Automate generates an email, it seemed to misinterpret the bracket (<) saved in the column as if it were a tag and ended up sending the message that was cut off right before "<".

Can you test this issue on your end and let me know if you can duplicate it or not? There is nothing I can do on my end to resolve this issue. Thank you!

Hello again,

I actually ended up trying to replicate in just HTML on a notepad with your message and ended with the same result. Treating the </ as a closing tag. I am still looking for syntax that might be a work around. You may have to switch to the standard formatting for email. It should show the full message when using that instead of HTML. I will follow up if I find an HTML-based work around. In the context of your flow, what does the </= represent? Is it meant to represent a less than or equal to symbol? Let me know!

Regards,

Jordan

Hi Jordan,

Yes, it meant a less than or equal to.

I look forward to seeing this issue resolved.

Thank you very much for your work!

Hello again,

I could not find any alternate syntax combinations for HTML that would prevent the </ from being recognized as a closing bracket. What I will do is paste the text icon for equal to/less than in this thread to try and paste in place of </= in the SharePoint item. Since it is automated,

My other solution recommendation would be to switch from using the HTML formatter in the create email box and switch it to the default email editor. It will not read the text in HTML format and send your message in it's current state.

Here is the text for the symbol: ≤

Thanks,

Jordan
