Power Automate Desktop Click failed (failed to get window) error

Hello,

I have created a web browser chrome flow in Power Automate Desktop. The flow opens my website in Chrome but when i come to the first action to click on a button on the webpage by using "Click UI Element in window" i get the following error :

Click failed (failed to get window): Robin.Core.ActionException: Click failed (failed to get window) ---> Robin.Shared.Runtime.ActionException: Click failed (failed to get window)
at Robin.Modules.UIAutomation.Actions.UIUtils.TryFuncThrowExceptionIfNull[T](Func`1 func, ActionException ae)
--- End of inner exception stack trace ---
at Robin.Modules.UIAutomation.Actions.ClickElementInWindow.Execute(ActionContext context)
at Robin.Runtime.Engine.ActionRunner.RunAction(String action, Dictionary`2 inputArguments, Dictionary`2 outputArguments, IActionStatement statement)

Someone that have a solution for this problem ?

I am also facing same issue. Is there any suggestion?

Hello, my friend.

I was having this same issue a few minutes back.

Just like you, I also tried to click at some area into a webpage using the same function "Click UI Element in window".

What i didn't knew at the time was that PowerAutomate Desktop, in some cases, have almost identical functions labels, with a minor slightly difference: the last word. Apparently this error message occurs when you are trying to use a desktop\windows application related function, instead of a Web related function, working with Web Browsers.

The same thing happens when you try to use "Populate text field in window" and "Populate text Field on web page" within Web Browsers.

In my case, i changed the "Click UI Element in window" function to "Move mouse to image".

This function works a little bit different. Inside the function window you have to select "Capture new image". Your mouse arrow cursor will change to a cross cursor. After that will just click and drag the desired area in the web page. Sometimes will be necessary to expand the selected area so the PowerAutomate Desktop can find the exactly spot you want, specially when the page contains multiples copies of that field/button/text. But no worries, it is possible to fine adjust the offsets into the Advanced tab so the click action hit the right spot.

PS.: Do not forget to enable Send a click after moving mouse

PowerAutomate Desktop is super new and I am also facing some difficulties with the documentation and examples. Microsoft could provide some short videos showing how to perform some simple actions to help the community.

Hope this help you.

Thx this solved my problem 🙂

hello,

I have similar problem, same error but instead of web browser I' m using desktop app

I've been having trouble pressing several submit or pop-up buttons on a website, but I've found a couple work-arounds that may really help anyone with this.

1st, I suspect that sometimes the element with the red box in the recording isn't the element that actually selects and runs the submit. I think it may be just selecting the text of the button or something.
To get around this, I use the "Add a new UI element" option found on most actions. Then on the screen where I'm trying to select the correct submit element, I can select an element a little above the button I actually want to press. Then I use the tab button to select the next page element without using the mouse. Sometimes having the tab over the submit button I want helps me select the right element and sometimes I can kind of distract the red box selection on a different element away from the mouse so I can actually cntrl + click the element on the submit button that the red box doesn't normally pick up.

2nd, although I was able to get the correct element into PA Desktop through the 1st work-around, it won't let me use a Click link on webpage action with that element. So instead I have to use the Click UI element in window action.
However, this can also run into the failed to get window error. So I added a Click link on webpage with the element normally picked up by the red box selection and I added a delay of a couple seconds. This allowed my web automation flow to use the Click UI element in window action on the correct submit button element.

And now I can finally press the button I need to and automatically submit my data!

I am having the same issue with Excel. Code ran flawlessly many times and now won't complete a complete run with this error:

Microsoft.Flow.RPA.Desktop.Modules.SDK.ActionException: Failed to set checkbox state (failed to get window) ---> Microsoft.Flow.RPA.Desktop.Modules.UIAutomation.Common.Exceptions.WindowNotFoundException: Exception of type 'Microsoft.Flow.RPA.Desktop.Modules.UIAutomation.Common.Exceptions.WindowNotFoundException' was thrown.
