Add a row to a excel table based off of condition

Hello,

I am trying to create a condition where if there is a matching serial number coming from an email, then it and the model name are not added to the spreadsheet. If there is no matching serial number, then add it and the model name to spreadsheet.

Here is the text of the email:

PTCMTVLPPTEST1 has just finished its build....

Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Model: Precision 7530
Serial Number: 2N1FGH2

Please update the Managed By and Location fields in AD!

Kind regards,

IT PC Build Monitor

Here is the condition and its corresponding steps:

Body = body('List _rows_present_in_a_table')

trim = trim(first(split(last(split(body('Html_to_text'),'Serial Number:')),'Please')))

Here is the condition along with the child steps:

But every time I run a test, even when there is a matching serial number in the spreadsheet, the values from the email are still added to the spreadsheet. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Hi @nblache ,

Please add a "Select" Action before condition and Map only "Serial Number" (Excel Column). It will provide you all the serial number in an array.

After that you can check in the condition that if it contains the current Serial number or not.

Note: This flow is built in the old designer, please switch to old designer or use the same logic in the new designer.

As Per the current configuration, it will go to the "If no" (false) section if it finds the serial number in the Excel ("Serial Number") column, otherwise it will "Add a new row in the Table".

Please try and let me know if you face any issues further or have any question.

Hello Harsh,

Thank you for your response. I tried this out and I still get the same issue where the values are added even if the serial number is already in the spreadsheet. I also notice that for the Select action, it ask to "Enter value". I left this blank.

Hi @nblache , The issue is with the select.

In the select action, please switch to text mode first (By clicking on the "T" shape icon) as given below in step 2. Then it will not ask for the ""Enter value"".

To configure select method correctly, Please follow below steps:

Step 1: Add "From" parameter to Value i.e. outputs('List_rows_present_in_a_table')?['body/value']

Step2:  In the "Map"parameter , Switch to Text mode first (By clicking on the "T" shape icon)

Step 3: Add the Serial Number (which is SERVICETAG) in you excel table.

So, In your existing "Select" Action, first remove this "SERVICETAG" and then switch to Text mode first (By clicking on the "T" shape icon) and the again add the "SERVICETAG" and then try it.

Hello @harshdeol,

Still getting the same issue as before. Could it possibly be that I am running test on this flow and I'm using the same automatic trigger each time to run the test?
