Add members to new teams

Hi

I am a teacher and create 10+ new class teams per semester. What I would like to create is a flow to add members to the new teams.

Ideally it would trigger when a new Excel file is dropped into a folder in OneDrive. I can easily create tables for each class with their email address and TeamID as the columns.

I have tried several things but have failed so far.

Can someone please help with the setup of this flow?

Thanks

After a long run of all your ideas @Sayan and lots of time with ChatGPT and Copilot I have the solution.

This is working now.

  • It triggers on an interval to check a table in an Excel File in OneDrive.
  • It lists the rows in the table.
  • It correctly provides the Email and TeamID for the Add a member to a Team iteration.

My plan is to add informtion to the table at the start of the semester, run the flow and then turn it off once the members have been added.

Thanks for your help!

Hey @MrGibbs

As I am using Corporate Laptop, so I don't have to Access to MS Team, so I am unbale to create the Flow and Test it. Just Created the Template.

You can refer the following solution hope it will work:

Create the Flow:

  • Select the trigger "When a file is created in a folder" for OneDrive.

Get the File Content:

  • Add an action "Get file content" to read the Excel file.
  • Use the file identifier from the trigger.

List Rows Present in a Table:

  • Add an action "List rows present in a table" from the Excel connector.
  • Choose the location, document library, file, and table where the email addresses and Team IDs are stored.

Apply to Each:

  • Add an "Apply to each" control to loop through each row in the Excel table.
  • Use the value from the previous step.

  • Add Members to Teams:

    • Inside the "Apply to each" loop, add an action "Add a member to a team" from the Microsoft Teams connector.
    • For the Team ID, use the corresponding column from the Excel table.
    • For the User ID, use the email address from the Excel table

Provide the Table Name Manually.

Hope It will work!

Hey @MrGibbs

can you please share the screenshot of excel file?

Also those two advanced parameters you asked me to delete keep reappearing after I run a test. I delete them, save, run the test and then they are there again.
