All day event from date in Body of e-mail

Hello again.

Whenever I want to work from the office I have to book my presence in advance. to do so we book it through a form that will result in my own inbox receiving a standardized e-mail, always with same subject - which I use as the filter for the trigger - with the date in the e-mail body. This is simply the day and includes no hours.

The e-mail body contains 2 lines of text (with a line break each, and the date (DD/MM/YYYY) within a table in the body of the e-mail (apologies for all the blurring in the image below).

I've got to the part where I will have to convert the e-mail into text form

How could I extract the date from there (resulting text) to have it set as the date of the event in the calendar?

Hi @MFFranco :

Please try:

vbofengmsft_0-1643013914585.png

concat(
 split(last(split(split(split(triggerOutputs()?['body/body'],'</tr>')[1],'</td>')[0],'>')),'/')[2],
 '-',
 split(last(split(split(split(triggerOutputs()?['body/body'],'</tr>')[1],'</td>')[0],'>')),'/')[1],
 '-',
 split(last(split(split(split(triggerOutputs()?['body/body'],'</tr>')[1],'</td>')[0],'>')),'/')[0],
 'T00:00:00Z'
)

My email:

Hello Bof.

Tried how you suggested, without the Html to Text conversion.

Initially I got the error:

Unable to process template language expressions in action 'Compose' inputs at line '0' and column '0': 'The template language expression 'concat(
 split(last(split(split(split(triggerOutputs()?['body/body'],'</tr>')[1],'</td>')[0],'>')),'/')[2],
 '-',
 split(last(split(split(split(triggerOutputs()?['body/body'],'</tr>')[1],'</td>')[0],'>')),'/')[1],
 '-',
 split(last(split(split(split(triggerOutputs()?['body/body'],'</tr>')[1],'</td>')[0],'>')),'/')[0],
 'T00:00:00Z'
)' cannot be evaluated because array index '2' is outside bounds (0, 0) of array. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions for usage details.'.

From all the censoring due to data sensitivity, It's nigh impossible to see the table I get in the e-mail, which is 2 rows by 4 columns (unsure if this could cause the issue.

The date is always in the same place in the e-mail, and when converted to text it's always between the 2 same words in the text (but depending if converting to text through copy/paste from e-mail to a notepad or using flow to create a text file (which I did in a parallel branch to see how the e-mail would be converted).

I also tried to compile the expression you provided in a single line

concat(split(last(split(split(split(triggerOutputs()?['body/body'],'</tr>')[1],'</td>')[0],'>')),'/')[2],'-',split(last(split(split(split(triggerOutputs()?['body/body'],'</tr>')[1],'</td>')[0],'>')),'/')[1],
'-',split(last(split(split(split(triggerOutputs()?['body/body'],'</tr>')[1],'</td>')[0],'>')),'/')[0],'T00:00:00Z')

But never got past the testing phase as it just stayed there "thinking on life" no matter the e-mails sent (starting to wonder if the flow will look to any identifier in the message headers as I was using replies to try and test this).

Hi @MFFranco :

Maybe I can help you by sharing my thoughts. I gradually narrowed the scope through three Splits and finally got '21/01/2022'

The first Split: Since the table has only two rows, the date value must be after the first '</tr>'
The second Split: Because the date is the first column, the date value must be before the first '</td>' of the filter result of the previous step
The third Split: The date value must be after the last '>' of the filter result in the previous step

Thank you @v-bofeng-msft.

I don't have enough understanding yet to fully understand your explanation.

Am I supposed to replace

['body/body']

with something from within the e-mail itself? Or does your expression does not need the specific wording from the e-mail to function?
