Am I looking at Arrays right? Trying to loop through it and according to the length function it's only 1 item.

I'm struggling with working with arrays, my end goal is to take all MS form responses, create an array of the repsonses, and filter the array by blank/null values in order to generate an HTML table of repsonses. Please see below attempt.. What am I not understanding about the array? Thanks!

Set Array Variable

createarray(body('Get_response_details'))

When I create the array with the above code I get the below array,

[
  {
    "responder": "sally.smith@abc.com",
    "submitDate": "4/25/2019 3:48:26 PM",
    "r92de569b263d4dd2856237db53eae005": "test application",
    "r180d3b4446d8430d9bb5d2299153840d": "Modify User",
    "rc81933a57345466b963c4a87e4255816": "joe smith",
    "r9896a473fd2a4040bb509c953c3bcbb6": "213",
    "r71243bbc23954bdab07ac4b52abe0f10": "j.smith@abc.com",
    "r165610d251c14f93aa0bd1c26c9e5b75": "123",
    "r2370de7496bd4e5a8cd380c2b065f13b": "",
    "rb91ce97e8016402bacc21d115e6ef204": "Option 2",
    "rd3953e1c6e574a08ba46d28f82c42a39": ""
  }
]

Why does it feel like I cannot step through this array, when I run a length expression I only get a length of 1, but i would think that this has a greater index than 1

length(variables('Response Array'))

Output 1

Ultimately I'm thinking I am not understanding the array mechanism and it's causing me undo frustration if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great, or, point out that I'm just going about it the wrong way.

Hi @ndanjou_92 ,

Thanks for updating.

I am afraid that it might be not possible to only show the responses that have answers in an HTML table.

Please try the following alternative way to see if it will meet your needs by using a function to return some words such as “NoResponse” when there is no value for this field.

if(empty(item()?['rb4dac56b277b41dd874addc4d62539c1']),'NoResponse', item()?['rb4dac56b277b41dd874addc4d62539c1'])

Hi @ndanjou_92 ,

Could you share more details on your scenario?

If you want to generate an HTML table from the forms responses, please check if the following flow will work for you.

In the compose action, input the following code to generate an array:

createArray(body('Get_response_details'))

In the action Create HTML table, select value from Compose Output. And input the following code to get value for each field:

firstname: item()?['r7bc7333c981a40b0bffe3eac3a7eea5f']

lastname: item()?['rade222d8aabb42989aaff2af08a2ba61']

…

Further, more info about Array, please check the following docs for a reference:

Hi Mabel,

Thank you for taking the time to reply, so let me try to explain this a little better.

I have a form that is for user access requests into our companies ticket system. This form is complex and based on form answers will dynamically present the user with questions that are applicable to the previous answers.

What this means is that some form responses will be blank as the question is not presented to the front end user of the form at all.

based on the formula you mentioned I did create an array of the variables.

createArray(body('Get_response_details'))

The array that was generated is here.

If you notice on question repsonse 7 and 9 they are not filled in as the form did not present those questions to the user to answer. (see values  "r2370de7496bd4e5a8cd380c2b065f13b": "", & "rd3953e1c6e574a08ba46d28f82c42a39": "")

is there anyway to filter this array by blank reponses and make it so that my end html table created by the array is only showing the repsonses that have answers?

Ultimately I DO care about every repsonse, except for those that are blank, and I want to dynamically have my email contain those details when it creates a ticket in our salesforce environment without making the email spacing insane because i've added a ton of dynamic content to it.

Hello,

We have the exact same use-case. Did you ever find a proper solution to hide blank answers?
