Array Variable to Sharepoint multiple choice field

Hello,

I have a flow in development which has a section where an array variable needs to be applied to a corresponding SharePoint list. For the most part, this is working and the array successfully selects all the relevant choices from the choice field. But when I go to filter the choice field in SharePoint, each choice has ;# between each of the choices meaning I can't filter by a specific choice.

Any ideas how to remove the ;# so I can the filter by the choices please?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Could you please show me more about your flow and tell me how do you set the array virable?

I have a test on my side for your reference.

I created a multiple choice column in SharePoint like this.

It will be update like this and it can be correctly filtered.

Best Regards,

Another method to create an array from a MS Form Question:

Anytime I set up an array variable to take values with that pattern from say, a Split on the selected values, say: My Choice 1, My Choice 3

Do a "Apply to each" on the output of that Split and apply

{ "Value" : item() }

to that Array item, and then put that variable in the "Update item" section's multi-select field to update it, and you just get something that looks like:

[
  {
    "Value": [
      {
        "Value": "My Choice 1"
      },
      {
        "Value": "My Choice 3"
      }
    ]
  }
]

And it puts the value in one line on my list item that looks like:

[{"Value":"My Choice 1"},{"Value":"My Choice 3"}]

It takes it literally instead of applying the individual components of that array to individual selections within the Choice field.

Why is it inserting that extra

{ "Value": [

in there??? And how do I get it to stop?!

Actually, nvm, fixed my own issue. There's a dumb icon on the multi-select Choice field on the Update item I didn't change from 'text' to 'array'. And instead of building/appending to an Array variable, I just did the Select object mapping, using the output of the Split, and mapped

{
    "Value": item()
}

like above, but then applied that "Select" object directly to the multi-select Choice field as

body('Select_MyChoiceField')

...since I had named my "Select" with the name of my field. I have column formatting of pills and it will show up with all of the options in a single bubble, though, but I can filter the values like it should, so I guess that's normal?

Update: when I reapplied my column formatting it fixed the issue of the values appearing in only 1 bubble. Also, if I opened the form, it would only appear as 1 bubble, but if you go to select new values, it will show you the existing ones in separate bubbles.

And going back to the original question, another way to get the values is just to do this, once you have an array populated with the right values:

Initialize variable: TestMultiCheck
Type: String
Value: [A,B]

Compose TestMultiCheck JSON
Inputs: json(variables('TestMultiCheck'))

Join TestMultiCheck
From: outputs('Compose_TestMultiCheck_JSON')
Join with: ,

Split TestMultiCheck
Inputs: split(body('Join_TestMultiCheck'),',')

Select TestMultiCheck
From: outputs('Split_TestMultiCheck')
Map: Value
item()

Once you have that Select, you can update the list item with the body of that Select:

body('Select_TestMultiCheck')

But you must also ensure that the multi-select field toggle is set to accept input from an array, not a string.
