Hi,
I built a simple flow that sends out an email each time a status is updated.
However, I was wondering, is there an action I can add to my flow that will update another column with the date the automated email is sent out?
Currently, the process is all manual so when the status is updated once a week I manually go and send the emails out that have the status I'm looking for, then in another column on the SP list, there's a column where I indicate the date the email was sent.
Can I add anything in my flow that will automatically update a column for us after the email is sent out?
Here's my flow:
And here's part of my SP list. When the Feedback Response column is set to "Meeting Completed" the automated email is sent out. Can I add anything to my flow that will automatically update the date in the "Survey Sent" field for when the email is sent out?
Hi @me95
use update item action under sharepoint so that you can update the Survey Sent field with current date.
Like below
Hope this helps !

Very helpful, thank you! However, how come it's requiring me to enter something in the "Date Completion Email & Feedback Sent" column? This is one of my SP List columns but I don't want that column to be updated with the date the email is sent, I want my "Survey Sent" column to be updated, which I was able to add the expression to at the bottom! I'm just not sure what to do about the highlighted column or why I'm being required to put something there?
Hi @me95
That column is coming as required because while creating the column in SharePoint list, you may have marked the option as required due to which it may have come as required option / field to be filled
One thing you can do there you can edit the settings of that column and disable the required option so that the column does not appeared as required. Once you update the column settings, then delete the update action and add it again with same values so that the those changes gets updated.
Another way to do it without changing column settings is adding the same value of that item to that field (same way how you have added the title dynamic content)
One more thought, I think this flow would create a infinit trigger , because you are updating item after sending email which in turns on the trigger again and since the feedback repaonse column has the same value meeting completed it will try to send email again. So to avoid it, I would say add one more condition in the condition action where you have added the condition feedback response column equals Meeting completed
Survey Sent is empty
So by which bot would skip sending email if survey sent is not empty.
Hope it helps

Thanks so much! I just made that field not required and it did the trick. Also, is this what you meant about adding the additional condition? Do I say "Survey Sent is = to null"?
Hi @me95
Add like this

Hi @Nived_Nambiar Thank you so much for your help here and apologies for not getting back to you earlier. I stopped working on this project because I got busy but have picked it back up in the new year 🙂 I hope your new year has been great thus far.
I followed your recommendations and am still having some issues. I think I got something wrong. Essentially, I have the below columns in my SP list:
The 1st column titled "APC/Provider Name" is a people column so if anyone on that column has a status of 'Meeting Completed' in the "Feedback Status" column AND their "Survey Sent" column is blank, I want them to be sent an email. Then, once that email is sent, I would like for the "Survey Sent" field to automatically be populated with the date in which the email is sent. Is this possible? Below is my flow, but I keep getting a warning that something in it will trigger an infinite loop. To the best of my knowledge, I have followed your instructions. What did I miss:
Hi @me95
Why that warning appears is as you are updating item i.e updating Survey Sent column , which is in turns activate the triggger of flow , so in that case it will create a unlimited loop of flow. But in your case you are safe as you have used a condition to check before you update the item, so it won't create problem in your case i think, But the best pratice recommended is to use trigger condition, which will activates the trigger only if the trigger condition is True.
See below for writing trigger condition:
Add a trigger condition like below
In your case, i think you should only trigger the flow when survey send column is null , so write a simmilar condition here 🙂
That would helps !
