Cannot open attachments uploaded to sharepoint document library using flow

Hello

I'm trying to build a flow to upload attachments of emails sent to a mailbox to a SharePoint document library. The flow works as expected and uploaded email attachments to the designated library. However, when I try to open the documents that have been uploaded to the library I'm unable to preview them. I have tried to download the documents but then cannot open them as they are an unsupported document type. 

I've tested with Word, PowerPoint and PDF documents.

Above is a screenshot of the Flow I've built. Can anyone explain why I'm not able to open the attachments once they've been uploaded to the SharePoint document library?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Please add the extension of the file (.docx ,.pdf) explicitly at the end of File Name after your variable.

The document names do already include the document type (see below). Is this what you mean or do I need to include the extension of the file somewhere else too?

In addition, please make sure that the source file of the attachment can be opened normally.

I'm having the same issue.

Unable to open the file once it is sent to the sharepoint library from the email.

Could someone please help if I'm missing any steps here.

This is an old post, but I was just struggling with the same issue. When saving to SP, wrap the "contentBytes" in base64ToBinary() like this base64ToBinary(outputs('attachment')?['contentBytes']) and it will expand the contentBytes to look like this and the file will no longer be corrupt when opened. { "$content-type": "application/octet-stream", "$content": "UEsDBBQAAAAIAGNhj1Jk3sco6QAAAE0.........." }

This also did not fix ....How to wrap to base64ToBinary() and where ?

When a new email arrives -- and then the following:

1) When an email arrives function

2) Initialize Variable

3) Create Item step

4) Apply to Each Control

Hi All,

There is a lot of crap out there regarding this issue - I know I just spent about 8hrs trawling through it all trying to solve it! If you are like me the problem lies in the fact that you have hidden email "attachments" in the form of email headers/footers etc in the email you are pulling the attachment from. Ensure when testing your email contains nothing but desired attachment e.g. 

Hope this saves you the agony which I endured testing this!
