Checking and sending email between specific times?

In timezone CST I want to check for emails between 7 AM to 3 PM that have a specific subject, like: [PHOTOGRAPHY]

If that subject pops up between 7 AM to 3 PM, I want it to send an automatic e-mail out.

Here is what my flows look like:

2.png1.png

My compose says:

convertFromUtc(utcNow(), 'Central Standard Time')

My conditions are:

items('Apply_to_each')?['receivedDateTime']

It's saying conditions are not met between this timeframe... what do I need to do?

My inputs and outputs look like this. This was a test I did at 11:22 PM, I changed my timeframe to 11:30 PM to try it and it didn't work.

I get expression result false

Hi @iPrevail,

I would use the HH format instead to compare.

Below is an example.

1. Use the following expression on the left of the where:

formatDateTime(triggerOutputs()?['body/receivedDateTime'], 'HH')

compareHHformat02.PNG

2. And compare it with strings, 07 and 15 (the 24 hour format).

string('07')

compareHHformat.PNG

Hi @iPrevail,

You do not need an apply to each loop for this setup. You should be able to remove that part.

Can you place your condition directly after the trigger action?

Did I understand right? I also tried it with removing the compose to convert time and same error

Hi @iPrevail,

It says it cannot find the value you used in the formatdatetime function.

Just to double check. You used the triggeroutputs function in your two expressions in the condition 2 action, correct?

If not, please copy/paste the below directly into the expression tab of the condition action.

formatDateTime(triggerOutputs()?['body/receivedDateTime'], 'HH')

Yes, that’s what I have in the condition and also copy and pasted the string expression and used 07 and 15

Hi @iPrevail,

Ok, thanks for confirming.

Since the flow says your receivedDateTime field is null, I want to double check this in the trigger action.

Can you expand the When an email arrives action in the failed flow run and share a screenshot of the outputs with me?

Below is an animation where you can find this.

The field you highlighted in your gif says this:

"receivedDateTime""2022-10-09T14:44:15+00:00",

I’ll be home soon and if need be I could make a video showing all my steps and an example of me trying it if that would help

Hi @iPrevail

Is the receivedDateTime field nested within the body field of the response, like in my animation?

Because within the expression we refer to that specific area of the response, body / receivedDateTime

body/receivedDateTime

You can also double check the correct reference to the Received Time field by using a compose. Place that field in a compose and hover over it. The tooltip should show the expression. Alternatively, you could use the peek code feature.

Hi @iPrevail

That's weird that you are getting an array back from a trigger action which suppose to return a single item. But it does explain the null value error 😁

Can you try this instead

formatDateTime(triggerOutputs()?['body']['value'][0]['receivedDateTime'], 'HH')

Ok, awesome so that is sending the email now.

however the timeframe part seems to be picky, I tried changing the string parameters to greater than 10 and less than 15 to test, and I had it convert to my timeframe and it acknowledged it was 9:26 AM, but it still sent the email but it shouldn’t have since it wasn’t greater than 10.

Any idea on the timeframe by chance?

Thank you

Hi @iPrevail

It is comparing it with UTC time. It looks like you live in +5 timezone. So, you can compare it with 15 and 20.
