Compare & copy SharePoint list items saving Unique values

Hi,

I am trying to Compare & copy SharePoint list items saving Unique values to the second list. Here is the scenario. I am saving Microsoft Message center data in a SharePoint list, which is big, more than 5000 items, in one list. This is the source list.

I have another similar list, with same columns.

I am trying to trigger a Flow, when any new item is added or modified. The flow is completing successfully but the condition is failing & hence its skipping create item action.

I am comparing Title column, where the ID for all messages are saved & have similar unique values. If the condition satisfies, checking the length of all array values of Get Items2,  if not available or value 0, then create an item in Get Items2.

Here is how it looks like:

arindam40_1-1646899129078.png

Condition provided is length(body('Get_items_2')?['value']) eq 0

Not sure, where I am going wrong. Also tried length(outputs('Get_items_2')?['body/value']) eq 0 but same result.

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Arindam

Hi Christian,

I tried configuring SharePoint column to accept only unique vales. But the flow was failing.

However, I'll figure out some mechanism!

Thanks a lot for helping me on this.

Thanks

hi @arindam40  please try int(outputs('Get_items_2')?['body/value']) and on the other side int('0')

Hi Christian,

Thanks for replying on this.

You mean it should be int(length(outputs('Get_items_2')?['body/value'])) eq int(0)

Thanks

@arindam40  yes. When you are trying to compare in condition needs to have same format type.

Hi Christian,

Still the same. Expression result false.

Just thinking, given the scenario, is this settings correct:

hi @arindam40  your filter is ok, so if you are having false response maybe that means you don't have the same title on the other list and the reuslt you are using is empty.

Hi Christian,

Both are same lists made from one another.

Same data for Title, as it looks here:

arindam40_0-1646962412686.png

The list on the left, is the source list, where Message Center data is getting saved from the scheduled run. Its fetching data from Graph API. The list on the right is the destination list, which used to save similar data from Graph API, so it has old data.

Now I am trying to create it in such a way that the list on the right becomes destination list, where Title is the common factor, which is unique & similar data type saving in this column.

So ideally, both data types are same, but individually the values will be different. Also the source data will have many duplicates in it as well. Thats the reason we are setting up this coup item automation.

Thanks

Arindam

hi @arindam40  I see the reason is because your filter is finding more than 1 response so what you are doing is

1

2

3

4  is equals to 1

The answer is false.

Please try using contains instead of equals.

Hi Christian,

'contains' was not accepted in the logic. It errors out:

Do I need to set it differently? This looked good in the examples.

Thanks

@arindam40  delete the int expressions just let your expression as the beginning  and use contains

@arindam40  try this..

1.- create compose action after List Rows

2.- inside compose add length expression like length(LIST ROWS VALUE)

3.- add contidion if compose output is greater than 0 That means you founf values.

Hi Christian,

I checked & it did the job.. Its able to copy to the other list!! Kool, that was awesome!! Thank you for correcting the data structure applied.

Just one query though. One of the message entry was already there in this destination list. It did not consider it as a duplicate one & copied it here. Is there a way to filter the duplicates, so that it does not spill over?

Thanks

hi @arindam40  to avoid duplicates you need to configure the column on sharepoint. Is you need more help on that please open a new topic and mark this as solved that will help others.
