Copy previous page URL into a SharePoint Column

Hi Everyone!

I have a 'Central Project Information' SharePoint list which has a column called 'ProjUID' - which is a single line text box. Users don't direct to this list, but actualy use it in the second URL further down. The URL for this list though, is:

https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa/Lists/Central%20Project%20Information/AllItems.aspx

Separate to this, and what the users use are the project 'Project Information' aspx pages which contain the web part showing the above Central Project Information list. The URLs for these pages are along the lines of:

https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa/Project%20Detail%20Pages/Project%20Information.aspx?ProjUid=...

I would like to copy the 'ProjUID' piece of the second URL, into the 'ProjUID' SharePoint column using Flow. So in effect (I think), I need to grab the previous page URL and store it (users access URL 2 with the ProjUID in it, but actually the list they are using doesnt have it thus the column).

Hope that makes sense, any ideas?

Hi @Cybacor ,

I am not sure if I understood, let me double check. The users will access the 2nd project, and to access that they use a project id, with that the URL will contain the Project ID they entered.

You want to create a flow to collect that URL, parse it, collecting the project id and then update or create an item on the list one, did I understand correctly?

So essentially:

1. User accesses page (their project) which contains the ?ProjUID= bit in the URL (I would like to capture this)

2. While on the project page, they can click New Item on the list webpart, which takes them to the newitem.aspx page (that doesn't hold the ProjUID bit as its a main SharePoint list URL)

Essentially I would like to capture the ProjUID from the page before into a column in the newitem.aspx (step 2) page??

I did find this script;

Which maybe something similar, but its using something like this (or whatever is better practice)
