Copying URL from Excel to a web page

I am new to Power Automate and starting to learn with my first flows.

One very important task for me is to copy a URL from a specific cell in Excel and then paste it into a specific field on a website. I will be creating quite a few flows using this basic task.

Each time Excel is accessed, the URL will be different, so I need something dynamic.

I tried using the "Record" option. However, this got me stuck with the same URL being pasted into the website each run.

I then tried to read the cell contents to create a variable. I copied the variable name %URL% into the automation step created by the screen recording, replacing the URL that was copied on my first try. For some reason, using the %URL% variable did not result in the URL being copied into the specified location.

Looking for recommendations how to solve this. Also, any recommendations on learning resources would be most appreciated.

Dear W,

It seems to me you are using PowerAutomate Desktop, rather than PowerAutomate. So you may want to move/copy your question in the right forum to ensure you get a right response.

Having said this, why are you using PowerAutomate Desktop, my advice is that you try and keep as much as possible to PowerAutomate (cloud) as this is in my experience far more versatile. Only when there is no other way, use PAD.

If you must use PAD ... if you copy your flow (blacking sensitive data), I may be able to have a look and guide you along.

Thanks so much for your reply. Any thoughts about learning resources are very welcome.

I am using PowerAutomate Desktop because I am brand new to this and working up the learning curve. I was not aware the platforms had major differences in functionality and where to post questions. Since I am working through my personal account & do not have access to an institutional account, it looks like I would have some limitations in the cloud & unsure the consequences.

I've copied the 2 flows below and also attached in case they are not sufficiently visible in the post. Step 1 for each flow is to attach tor running Excel file.

Main Flow has what I got from the "recorder" in steps 12-15

Subflow 1 where I copied the "recorder" information and replaced with the %Domain% in step 15. When I try this out, nothing gets pasted into the specified box on the webpage.

Again, your help is much appreciated. If you can point me to any learning resources, I am much appreciative.

Another reason I am using Desktop is I am using the desktop apps of MS office rather than the cloud versions. I poked around the PA Cloud and it looks like it uses the cloud apps, to which I am unsure how much access I have.
