Create CSV file from an Excel file

Hello all,

I need to create a CSV file from an Excel file and the ideia is to use the WHEN A FILE IS CREATED IN A FOLDER trigger.

I am able to list the rows present at the table that I want to use as input, and filter the query.

The problem is to create the CSV file with the columns in a certain order and without header.

I have created the following flow:

With the following details:

evaristo_2-1622238109042.png

evaristo_4-1622238184309.png

The problem is that my flow is producing 3 files instead of one (one per each row), and the columns I define at the CREATE CSV TABLE are all together at the same column:

How can I create only one file, with the output spread by the different columns, and without the header (that is an extra I know)...

Sorry my rookie request but this is all new to me...

Thanks in advance!

Hi @evaristo

Two ways to achieve the same thing.  First, drop the apply to each.  You are looking to get the data from the values dynamic content.

You can use a select with a concat to create a string and then compose to join the select array with a return line.

DamoBird365_0-1622274377253.png

OR You can use the create CSV table action, split the csv by a return line to create an array, drop the first object and then join the array back to a string using a return.

DamoBird365_1-1622274488404.png

Note the compose called return, is literally a compose action with a return line, i.e. hit your keboard return once.

Maybe there is a simpler way, but I couldn't think of a way to skip the first line without it being an array.

Hi @evaristo

I don't understand what you are doing with Compose2?  You have created a CSV without a header in the compose join, what is the purpose of trying to split?

Hello @DamoBird365 ,

thank you for your prompt reply!

I tried to follow your steps but when I try to create the CREATE CSV TABLE step, I can't see the columns to select. Therefore I tried the 1st approach (or at least I think you are providing 2 different approaches):

evaristo_0-1622460420214.png

My output seems perfect:

evaristo_1-1622460750044.png

Without header and I only need to separate it by columns (using comma as delimiter).

However when I try to do it I get the following error:

evaristo_2-1622460828269.png

What I am doing is the following (as you describe in your explanation):

evaristo_3-1622460842539.png

Bu I also tried the following but I get the same error:

evaristo_4-1622460905794.png

But I keep gettting the same error:

evaristo_5-1622460949861.png

Can you help me understand what am I doing wrong?

Many thanks for you help!

Basically I need to convert the COMPOSE JOIN from this:

evaristo_3-1622470515694.png

into this:

evaristo_2-1622470487278.png

I guess I misunderstood your instructions above... 😞

How can I split each row of the COMPOSE JOIN into columns using the comma delimiter?

Hi @evaristo

When you open a CSV in excel, it will split the columns by the comma delimiter, however you might need to use the text to columns feature:

DamoBird365_0-1622473890758.png

If you are looking for an excel file, xlsx, then you would need a different solution.

You can populate an excel file using a table and excel action (add row) or write an excel office script.
