Hello!
I've been trying to build a flow that will send a message to a different channel if the original message does not have a "like" reaction within 15 minutes. I have it mostly figured out, but I can't seem to get the flow to see the reaction. It always marks the condition false, which sends the message over to the next channel. I've tried a few different approaches, but I'm not having any luck.
Here's a snip of what I have now:
Any tips/examples appreciated. I'm happy to provide any more supporting information.
Here is a forum post describing how to collect reactions, https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/Collecting-Reactions-from-Teams-Messages/td-p/822...
looks like you need to reference reactionType not Reactions as an array. maybe you could use a filter array on the Reactions array and set it to only reactionType = like
Thanks for the reply, Nick! I actually based a lot of my trial/error off of that post. This is about as far as I was able to get on that. I'm pretty new to PA, this is the first thing I've really tried with it. Here's where I'm at:
This is the result:
Am I missing any object, or do I need to change the condition value to something specific? If I set it to the filter body, the filter doesn't seem to collect data. Any tips/advice appreciated.
I got it to work by using parse json since i wasnt getting the returns I wanted.
heres the parse json schema

works, returns true when at least one of the reactions is a like
I really appreciate your help on this. I feel like this is so close to working. I tried to build it exactly as you have it, but I keep getting
"The execution of template action 'Apply_to_each' failed: the result of the evaluation of 'foreach' expression '@triggerOutputs()?['body']' is of type 'Object'. The result must be a valid array.
or
"The execution of template action 'Apply_to_each_2' failed: the result of the evaluation of 'foreach' expression '@body('Parse_JSON')?['properties']?['reactions']' is of type 'Null'. The result must be a valid array."
When I set the "Output from previous steps" do the dynamic content. If I set them each to the expression equivalent it will run, but returns bad information, or no information at all.
I tried to play around with some of the formatting, but I still can't seem to get it working. Any other tips?
This is the closest I got it to working. Anything stand out to you?
here is what I have in each action that returned true if the message was liked and false if not.
Apply to Each:
triggerOutputs()?['body/value']
Get Message Details:
items('Apply_to_each')?['messageId']
Parse JSON (you already have the schema):
body('Get_message_details')
Apply to each 2:
body('Parse_JSON')?['reactions']
Compose:
items('Apply_to_each_2')?['reactionType']
Condition:
outputs('Compose')
is equal to like
so far each test has returned true or false accurately. Hopefully you can get it working for yours as well. what's the array you have in your first apply to each? It should just be the Message object pulled from the trigger.
Almost there! It's now seeing the reaction! However... now when there is not a reaction to the message, the "Apply to each 2" does not process... I'm not sure why it's not acting. Any ideas?
its not running because there is nothing to apply to. you can add what you want to happen if there is no reaction underneath the apply to each and set it to run after apply to each is skipped.
