Creation of events out of Outlook Emails

I was asked to do an automation at power automate every time we receive an email with a specific subject. My aim is to create an automation that every time we receive that email, it automatically schedule an "event" in a shared calendar. I did "When a new email arrices (V3) + Get email (V2) + Create  Event (V4)" however when I proceed to run a test flow, on the part of "Get Email (V2)" it says "Id is malformed.

It's better if you can share your flow screenshot with expanded and some information on the values passed, will be great, Ofcourse sensitive information can be removed

In the Get email (V2) it is the only message ID to pass, can you try to remove the subject and check?

When I delete the "subject" and only leave the "Message Id" this appears: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.

Hi @mip09 !

As seen from the "Create event (V4)" action, you have specified the Start time and End time to be of 'Body' which is not of the correct datetime format. It follows the ISO 8601 compliant.

Example:

2023-10-31T10:41:53

Can you tell at what step this was error out, because you are passing directly body to the events action, you need to check what body you are passing. So Start Time and End Time need to have the date and time exactly every thing else will be get this type of issue

As I wanted to grab the information of date and time that is directly in the body of the email I thought that was all I needed to do.

Direct passing body will not help, so you need to split your body and extract only the dates that are required

As above according your body you need build the expressions to extract the start and end dates

The last one on the "create event (V4)". I don't have any other step (before) regarding time and date until there.

I have added new strings as "html to text" and start and end date so the system is able to identify it. However, some errors keep going.

If you passing date as a string, then you need to breakup and also the format of the datetime should be ISO 8601 format which means yyyy-MM-dd, this means 2023-10-31, check the format and fix that

Take a look at this video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQlvKxWuU7g . Scroll to time frame 1:57 and watch from there. Here he uses the "Create event(V4)" action and also shows how to convert the string to a datetime format that is of ISO 8601 which is to be used in the Start time and End time of "Create event(V4)" action.

An error happens at the "End Time" stage. As you can see, you can see it here:

 

 

The expression term utilized in "End Time" was: split(outputs('Compose_3')?[1],'end time:')?[1]

It's getting null with your expression, So you need to check you expression is correct, because I don't see what values you are passing

This expression: split(outputs('Compose_3')?[1],'end time:')?[1]

I don't see a "Compose 3" action in your flow. Do you mean:

split(outputs('Compose_2')?[1],'end time:')?[1]

                                 OR

split(outputs('Compose')?[1],'end time:')?[1]

which one is associated to your end time variable?

You were correct. I changed it to plit(outputs('Compose_2')?[1],'end time:')?[1] however it still gives me an error.
