Delay until not working

Hi Power Automate community,

        I have been trying to build a flow which can send a mail when the due date is missing. However the delay until stage is failing constantly. Attached screenshot for reference. Please provide support.

The delay stage will not work because you're put an absolute time and date into the Timestamp. That time passed on April 10, therefore it will never satisfy the criterion. Also, you have not specified the time in proper UTC format, as shown in the error message in your screen shot.

You need to put a relative time instead. In this example, the timestamp value is one day from now:

addDays(utcNow(),1)

Thanks,

Anne

If the only thing you are trying to accomplish is to send an email if a date field is empty, I would create a flow that is triggered when an item is created or when an item is created or modified depending on your needs. You can then add a trigger condition so that the flow only runs if the due date field is empty.

The expression used is (Date would be replaced with the internal name of your date field):

equals(empty(triggerOutputs()?['body/Date']),true)

 What is the necessity of delaying the e-mail?

Actually,

               I am trying to build this in such a way that an automated email will be generated if the due date is missed. For example, due date : 24-Apr-2023 and the mail should be generated on 25-Apr-2023.

Oh ok, Thanks. Let me try this out

If I want the timestamp value for today instead of one day from now, what expression to use?

utcNow()

________________________________________________________

Welcome to my web site.

Use the output of the Convert time zone action, with

utcNow()

in the Base time. Here's an example from one of my Flows:

You can format the time so it displays however you want. That's a whole other topic, though. 🙂

If this helped you, please mark it as a solution.

Thanks,

Anne

Actually, my issue is that the due date is relative and not fixed as in today or tomorrow and varies according to the project. Is there any way in power automate to send an automated mail once the due date is missed?

What would be the logic for the workflow to know the due date has been missed? A date field alone will not tell you that.

Here's one approach:
You have a SharePoint Library where one of the columns contains the due date and another column is the date where notifications are supposed to start. Then you get properties on all the files and use an ODATA query to filter out all the dates that have already passed. The Flow runs once a day.

annetoal_0-1682514242375.png

The ODATA query is

(approverEmail ne null) and (reviewNotice le '@{body('Convert_time_zone')}') and (ContentType ne 'Folder')

The first comparison (approverEmail ne null) gets rid of all the entries where there is no email. You can ignore that for your purposes.

The second comparison is reviewNotice is less than or equal to the converted time zone of utcNow(). It will give you all the reviewNotice dates that are in the past.

The third comparison is also particular to my Flow, and you can ignore it.

The Get properties filter gives you an array of all the files that should have notifications sent. Now you can do whatever you want with that list of files.

This is not meant to be cut-and-paste code to answer your question, but I hope it will set you in the right direction and give you a few ideas how to approach your problem.

If this helps, please mark it as a Solution.
