Email notification sent many times

I am not sure what is wrong with my flow. It keeps sending multiple email notifications when condition 2 is met. Look forward for any advise 🙂

This is because your Send an email (V2) action is nested inside an apply to each loop. Is there a reason you are using an Apply to Each loop? You shouldn't need to use an Apply to Each loop since you are returning a single item from the When an item is created or modified trigger.

@creativeopinion Hm, when i recreate my flow without the apply to each, the same still occur. i.e. the email keep sending still. and i noticed a warning. Could you advise what kind of condition i could include? 

 

My requirement is simple: 

If notice period is not equal to 1 week and pre-approval is not obtained, the request will be auto-reject (also the status will be updated) and email will be sent out.

I have tried to add this trigger condition (@equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/RunFlow'], true)) under the "When item is created and modified" setting and created a flag. but my issue is when the item is updated, this flag is not going back to the default value = True and will skip the whole flow.

I got why the flow sends the email notification multiple times, when condition2 is satisfied, the Yes branch updates the same list item and sends the email, since the list item is updated it agains the trigger the same flow which causes the flow to trigger.

Also i need to know about the trigger condition which you have placed there , could you give more context of that?

 

Also looking at update item , you are updating item as rejected, may be we can create a trigger condition which checks whether the item status is rejected, if yes not trigger the flow 🙂 ?

 

Also show what youa re updating in list item 🙂

Thank you for the input. The trigger condition is for me to set a flag to stop the flow from rerunning. 🙂

But now that you mentioned about using the status field...i am giving it a shot. 

I am trying to add trigger condition as such but got an error:

This will trigger the flow when the status is not rejected

 

 

@equals(equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/ApprovedStatusValue'],'Rejected'),false)

Tried the trigger you recommended above. Hm, not working so far. it sent me 4 same mails so far. haha

@Nived_Nambiar  just to add on, even my 2 trigger cond after putting single quotes, it causes runtime for my flow. 😞

Show me the error which you got 🙂

 

 

Do you have any update item in no branch as well ?

Here you go @Nived_Nambiar for the no branch flow. and there is no error per se, there is just long runtime. it takes awhile to run and eventually nothing shows up.

One question, do you need to trigger the flow only when the item modfiied has Approval Status Value as empty ?

 

if yes then change the trigger condition to this :

 

@empty(string(triggerOutputs()?['body/ApprovedStatusValue']))

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
