Embed image into automated email from Sharepoint list

I have a flow set up whereby an email is sent when a new item is added to a sharepoint list and pulls through dynamic content from the list itself (see below)

Screenshot 2022-05-20 at 1.23.24 pm.png

I have another column on my list for images (see below called 'ID Picture') and I need this image embedding into the email body or even an attachment. Any help welcome!

Thanks!

Hi @Jtaylor95 ,

I noticed that your list name has 2 spaces.

You could try to copy the list name from the web page url.

_api/web/Lists/getByTitle('Salaried%20Employee%20TEST')/items(@{triggerOutputs()?['body/ID']})?$select=ImageColumnName

Hey @Jtaylor95

Is the Picture an Hyperlink?

If yes, please try to use <img> label in HTML, then the image could be checked on Outlook Web.

<img src="@{triggerOutputs()?['body/Picture']}" alt="Picture" width="500" height="600">

No its not an attachment either. I want the image to be pulled from Sharepoint List and embedded as an image into the email body

What is the column type in SharePoint? Can you please provide more details?

column type is an image. So its just uploading a .jpeg or .png

@Jtaylor95  - Screenshot of the column please.

Hi @Jtaylor95 ,

I have made a test for your reference.

1. Here is my SharePoint list.

vyujincuimsft_0-1653552336907.png

2. Here is my flow.

_api/web/Lists/getByTitle('listname')/items(@{triggerOutputs()?['body/ID']})?$select=ImageColumnName
 json(body('Send_an_HTTP_request_to_SharePoint')?['d']['ImageColumnName'])['fileName']
concat('/SiteAssets/Lists/yourfoldername/',variables('image1filename'))
<img style="display:block;" src="data&colon;image/jpg;base64,@{body('Get_file_content_using_path')['$content']}" alt="ImageColumn1" border="0" width="300" height="300">

Can you clarify how to enter the 'listname' in the below?

_api/web/Lists/getByTitle('listname')/items(@{triggerOutputs()?['body/ID']})?$select=ImageColumnName

I've tried 'Salaried_Employee_Test' and also 'salariedemployeetest' but its not recognising the list?

@hugofasima Hi! I'm having the exact same isuue trying to replicate this process:

VicBonzon_0-1679575725865.png

What solution did you find?

Because SharePoint is a real headache, eventhough your column is called Images, the actual link to it is probably different, so you need to

Get your column real ID:

List settings >> Choose the column >> On the browser search look at the ID after Field

List Settings:

hugofasima_2-1679601141498.png

My columns in List Settings:

hugofasima_0-1679601094516.png

 Real ID after Field=:

hugofasima_3-1679601337528.png

Let me know if it works,

Also, I had a lot of problems with actually displaying the image, and I created a whole Topic on it, check it out if you have problems with it as well:

Peace.

My column is called Images 😞

VicBonzon_0-1679652583433.png

This is the error I'm getting at this step exactly:

VicBonzon_1-1679652647276.png

The only difference I see with yours, is that I'm inside a loop. Maybe I need to change something on the json code?

Oh nooo 😞

Maybe this will help, it's another post by me on the same subject:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/Send-email-with-embedded-image-from-sharepoint-th...

My flow looks a bit different than yours, I don't know... But after 4 days, this is my working complete flow:

hugofasima_1-1679865588409.png

All the expressions:

On Send an HTTP request to SharePoint:

_api/web/Lists/getByTitle('Field%20Photos')/items(@{triggerOutputs()?['body/ID']})?$select=Image_x0028_Type_x003d_image_x00

On Initialize variable:

json(body('Send_an_HTTP_request_to_SharePoint')?['d']['Image_x0028_Type_x003d_image_x00'])['fileName']

On Get file content using path:

concat('https://sofraco.sharepoint.com/sites/-2/SiteAssets/Lists/fbd6b324-ae1f-4041-8e21-f1b5a9b3b543/',variables('image1filename'))

On Send an email (V2):

dataUri(outputs('Get_file_content_using_path')?['body'])

In my case the Images were not showing without the dataUri() function, I believe it is crucial for this to work.

I have spent weeks to solve this problem, luckily your solution works fine  for me but it shows the filename of the photo as well. How can I hide the filename and show only the picture.sampleid3.png

I got this to work for a single image from a SharePoint list. How do you get this to work for images in multiple columns though?

I was able to pull multiple pictures through the HTTP request, accurately create the variables for multiple jpg's and use the "get file content using path" multiple times correctly.

My problem is in the datUri function. I can't figure out how to reference multiple 'Get_file_content_using_path'

dataUri(outputs('Get_file_content_using_path')?['body'])
