Error in Increment type flow

Hii, i have the below flow, where i want it to count the number of items per ticket types already recorded and increment the new Ticket ID by 1,

Screenshot (848).png

where for varTicketType, i set it as String and Value:The ticket type value in List

varTicketID, i set it as Integer and Value:0

Get Items, i set the Filter Query as TicketType eq 'BI Dashboard' (taking one of the ticket type as example)

                Set Variable, i set Name:varTicketID and Value:length(body('Get_items_4')?['value'])

                Compose: i set Input:concat('BI-', formatNumber(add(variables('varTicketID'), 1), '000'))

Update Item: i set the Ticket ID column in List as the output of Compose

However, in my List it starts as BI-002 and not BI-001, how can i fix this?

Hi, @mel_

Because your trigger is when an item is created. Then your Get items will fetch the item you created. So you do not need to add 1 in your compose action.

                Compose: i set Input:concat('BI-', formatNumber(variables('varTicketID'), '000'))

Hi , @mel_

According to your description and screenshot , it seems that there has no error in the logic. Can you check if there is data return in your Get items action in your flow run history?

Hi @v-yueyun-msft , thanks for the reply, the data return that you mentioned is output, right?

Hi, @mel_

Because your trigger is when an item is created. Then your Get items will fetch the item you created. So you do not need to add 1 in your compose action.

                Compose: i set Input:concat('BI-', formatNumber(variables('varTicketID'), '000'))

Hi @v-yueyun-msft , I have tried to not included "add 1" inside compose, however, the increment is not right, where the second record shows -003 instead of -002.

Screenshot (851).png

Hi , @mel_
Thanks for your response! Can your check how many items return in your "Get items" action when you create your second record in your flow run history?

Best Regards,

Yueyun Zhang

Hi @v-yueyun-msft , i delete the previous record and re-run, and i got the -004 instead of -003 for the third record,

Screenshot (852).png

and here are the output for -004,

Screenshot (853).pngScreenshot (854).pngScreenshot (855).pngScreenshot (856).pngScreenshot (857).png

is there any element steps in the flow that are missing or need to add/delete so that the increment is correct?

Hi , @mel_

The Get items return three items [ID=25,26,32]. So the code return 3 .

Set Variable, i set Name:varTicketID and Value:length(body('Get_items_4')?['value'])   =====  3

In logic , it should be -003. You can check if it pass the -003 in your update item action? And if it get the 3 in your "set variable" action?  You can check if you  trun on the "Split on" in the setting of your trigger:

Hi @v-yueyun-msft , apparently it is -003 from the outputs of Set Variable, Compose and Update Items, just that in List it appears as -004.

Screenshot (858).png

Hi , @mel_

Oh,, it is strange , It stands to reason that if the value of the update item is 003, then the updated value should also be 003.can you show me your Update item action's configuration?

Best Regards,

Yueyun Zhang

Hi @v-yueyun-msft , i think i have figured it out, where in List it is not the most updated Ticket ID (before i delete one record in List), so when i re-run again the flow, it appears as -003.

Btw, thank you for your help.

Hi , @mel_

Thanks for your response and sharing! Glad to hear that you solve the issue in your side! Have a good day!
