Error when creating flows in import of canvas Power App

I'm in the process of moving my Power Apps and their connected flows from one environment to another. I'm using the export package for Power Apps and the "Import canvas app" in the new environment. For most Power Apps it's no problem, but on some I get this error when the flows are to be saved:
"Flow save failed with code WorkflowOperationParametersExtraParameter and message The API operation does not contain a definition for parameter 'parameters/UserDeviceLease'.. " (as an example).

If I try to run the same import several times, its always the same flows that fails. The ones who works, works every time.

The datasource/target for the flows is an Azure SQL server.

The flows works fine in their existing environment, but has to be moved. How do I debug this? Can I find (and change) the parameter definition somewhere in the .zip-file (export package) ?

Regards,

John Martin

Hi @jmkvalsund ,

Make sure there is a connection reference in the solution for this flow.  If not, go to the flow in the solution and select Advanced/Add Required Objects.  This should add the connection reference to the solution.

Hope this helps!

Aaron

Hi @AaronKnox ,

thanks for your reply. I've checked it out and found that all flows do have a reference to a connection, the same SQL server connection for all of them.

So I guess that's not the problem then. Anyways it works great on my existing environment, so then it must be something that's missing from the export-operation?
The flows that does import ok, also uses the same connection.

John Martin

Hi @jmkvalsund ,

I failed to mention make sure the target environment has that SQL connection.  You may need to add it to the environment:  https://make.powerautomate.com/environments/xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx/connections

If you cannot add it then a DLP policy may be in effect.

Please let me know if this helps, thanks!

Aaron

Hi @AaronKnox ,

The connection is being created by the same import-package, and as mentioned it is used by the flows that is imported succesfully. Are there any definitions/references which is possible to read in any of the files in the package? I can't find any info regarding parameters in .json's in the .zip package.

Regards,

John Martin

Hi @jmkvalsund ,

There may be xml files that have the connection definition, you could search those for the parameter 'parameters/UserDeviceLease'.

I'm not sure if the 'export power app' zip file has what you need:  you might want to look at the Power Platform CLI that can unpack/pack the msapp file so you can look at the code.  These are good instructions but perhaps outdated:  you can now install these tools via Visual Studio Code extension 'Power Platform Tools' and run the commands from the VS Code command line, as mentioned in the same article's comments.

Another approach is to add this app and its flow(s) to a solution and then export/import into new environment.  If nothing else it may help generate better error messages.  This is probably the best way to move/copy things in your environments.

Hope this helps!

Aaron
