Excel Table to email

Hi,

Im having a hard time finding a way to extract a Table from Excel and then sending the table in an email. I want to be able to send the whole table via email to multiple people and have it done daily.

Ill need to have the title include today date as well.

Thank you!

Hi, @Taz1, show us what you have so far, and perhaps some sample/made up data. 🙂

A screenshot of your flow from the edit screen (obfuscate where needed) will do the trick, just edit it into the original question there, so folks can see what you've done.

Hi @Taz1

here's quikie if you wanna get started first, make sure you select columns as well

Updated with pics. When I run the flow, im running in 2 issues:

1) It sends multiple emails, with each row multiple times
2) its not giving me the table with the conditional formating.

Thanks for the help!

Im getting the error message: The operation 'Initialize variable' can only be used at top level. when I try to use Iniatize Variable. I only need a screenshot of the table with the conditional formatting, is that possible?

For 1 please check your apply each and outlook connector placement

for 2 conditional formatting you can refer here https://ryanmaclean365.com/2020/01/29/power-automate-html-table-styling

Nice one, @Taz1 ... hopefully @Shujaath_Khan has sorted you ... but if you're still going ...

Part 1 should be relatively easily handled, but could you elaborate a bit more on part 2, please?

Are you:

  • Trying to get the values as they are formatted within the Excel sheet?
    Or
  • Trying to conditionally format certain HTML Table rows/columns/cells?

Just initialize the variable at the start of the flow, you can use 'Set variable' instead inside any other parts.

Hi @eliotcole ,

I'm Trying to get the values as they are formatted within the Excel sheet? Basically i need the same color coding on the table to show on the email.

Also im trying to resize the first column, is there anyway to do that?

Taz1_0-1658165821223.png

It's going to be a VERY complicated affair to get that, @Taz1, but not impossible. If your data will have the same columns and the potential colours are the same, then I would suggest working with HTML table formatting specific to the flow for the columns once you've made them.

The column issue is now fixed.

Is there any guide you are aware of I can follow to extract the table, formatting and conditional formatting and transform all that in a an email?

ty! On the guide, do I need to follow the Advance styling? The guide is a bit complicated to follow as I never worked with CSS/HTML before... =/

Taz1_0-1658233546052.png

nope, you just need a basic CSS which you can use and close advance styling is not needed at the moment for you.

Just use the CSS which I've shared above and continue your development

thanks

Here is what I have so far, not sure how im supposed to get the formatting + conditional formating as the table. Can you please guide me on the next steps please? ty!

ok, for this. you've to know more or formatting advance level if you're willing to format cell by cell

I don't really 'do' guides, mate, but rather prefer to find and know the thing myself.

With this, there's Graph API calls (which can be done using the Office 365 Groups connector and its Send an HTTP request action) which will get the entirety of used range on a given sheet. This includes formatting and formula information.

However, again ... this is complex stuff as you're potentially looking at translation of A LOT of variables ... especially if you are trying to be as agnostic about what you're handling here.

Now theoretically this should be included in some of the Excel actions in PA and not 'advertised', but I don't really know.

You should really get someone to handle this one for you, because it will get in to the realms of taking a fair bit of time to make a solution.

Plus the fact that CSS itself can't react to the content, I think ... right?
