Export data from Jira using JQL and populating excel spreadsheet on Sharepoint (Automated)

Hi Power automate community,

I am currently trying to automate a manual task performed daily using Power Automate.

The task is essentially to extract data from Jira using a JQL query and with that data populate a pre-existing excel file located on share point. I am trying to automate this process so it will be performed daily.

I have created a flow, however it does not seem to be working as I intended. Could somebody perhaps enlighten me if this is doable using power automate and what changes need to be made to my flow to achieve this.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Automate123

Just a quick question, how have you built that flow?  You have two triggers?  An occurence and a when a new issue is returned?  This should not be possible?

If this post helps, then please consider Accept it as the solution to help the other members find it more quickly.
Cheers,
Damien

Hi @DamoBird365

Yes, I built this flow just to test my solution. However it did not seem to work.

Do you have any ideas on how I might be able to achieve my task?

Thanks

Hi @Automate123

What you have shared as a screenshot isn't possible to build as you have two triggers.

Have you investigated the JIRA actions?

 Get Issue or get projects?

I am not familiar with JIRA I am afraid.

Hi @DamoBird365

Ok thanks, that explains why it was not working then...

I have looked through the Jira actions however I'm not sure any of the actions will match what I'm after. (Using a JQL query to extract data from all projects)

perhaps I will need to create a custom Jira connector to achieve this?

Hi @Automate123

I appreciate you reaching out to me direct on this one but I will be honest I simply do not know.  There is an article here you could consider looking at https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/JIRA-JQL-to-Flow/m-p/33334 otherwise it's over to the other community members as I don't have an environment that I can test Jira.

Best of luck with your development.

Damien

@DamoBird365 No problem, thanks alot for your input anyways 🙂

Hi @Automate123  and @DamoBird365

There's another post with the same context:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Power-Automate/Automating-Jira-export-to-sharepoint/m-p/...

I've closed the other one, and let's focus on only one use the community's time wisely.

@Automate123, can you please check the feedback from  @DamoBird365 and mine and see where you're missing information?

Cheers
Manuel

Hi @manuelstgomes

Thank you for posting. From the solutions you have provided I understand how to achieve this conceptually. However in terms of actually doing it using Power Automate, I'm not entirely sure. Could you perhaps create an example flow similar to what I am trying to achieve so I can visually understand?

Thanks
