Extract Email from people column in Sharepoint and copy it into a text column

Hi, as per the subject, I'd like to extract the email from a people person, where their name is displayed with their picture, into another column as a text, this value needs to be stored in the cell. I need to use this Email text column to create a Lookup into another list.

I have created a text column in the first list for the email to store and tried a flow:

Manually Trigger a flow  -> Get Items (Sharepoint - from the first list) -> Update Item (SharePoint - the same list as per Get Items - selected Owner Email (the email I needed) to fill the value for the Email column.

It runs for a minute, then successfully completes but the Email column stays empty.

Any suggestion is welcomed on how to extract and copy these emails?

This is my test SharePoint List , according to your description, do you mean you want to extract the email from the person column("PersonTest" column in my side).

I test it in my side , it works good in my side :

So you need to check your "Get items" action return and find which value you need to extract.

Thanks a lot for your help @v-yueyun-msft . That is what I am looking to achieve and what I have tried.

When I tried to follow your example, in the step Update Item, after I selected the ID, it created the first Apply to each loop, when I added the Person/Email, it generated a second Apply to each. It causes an error.

Do you know what can be the cause for Power Automate to create a second loop?

Thanks for your quick response! According to your screenshot , in fact we do not need the second "Apply_to_each_2" loop. And this is an object instead of an array so it return an error code .

In fact you can try to add expression instead of select in dynamic content. 

First , you need to check what's the return value in "Get items" action in your flow run history:

items('Apply_to_each')?['ID']

items('Apply_to_each')?['PersonTest']?['Email']

You can replace your column name in this code. And if it still can not solve the issue, can you show your action output for your "Get items" action?
