Find Text Position

Um...The top circled text shows what I am looking for.

The second circled text shows that the string is there.

The third circled text is declaring that the string is NOT there.

Apparently I am missing something?

Do you want to get the starting position for a substring. If so, you could try indexOf('<text>', '<searchText>') . I've made a test for your reference:

Here is what I am actually doing.

The trigger is a new email arriving in a specific folder.

I take the email body and run it through HTML to Text

I then loop through a list of strings checking to see any of them exist in the body of the email.

Currently, I don't care to know its position, just whether or not it exists.

The 'Find Text Position' action returns a -1 if it cannot find what you are looking for. So any return other than -1 would mean the string exists.

What does Compose / IndexOf return if it cannot find the requested String?

And I just got a big clue...

I took your indexOf suggestion and plugged it into my 'Apply to each' action. This failed because:

"InvalidTemplate. Unable to process template language expressions in action 'Compose' inputs at line '0' and column '0': 'The template language function 'indexOf' expects its second parameter to be of type string. The provided value is of type 'Array'. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions#indexof for usage details.'."

So now I need to figure out how to convert each lest entry to a string before I do the compare. I am assuming I can do that with a compose. I'll let you know.

Anyway, @v-bofeng-msft , your response here allowed me to discover I have an variable type issue. Thank you.

Hey @Anonymous 

Save your data in which you want to search in a compose. [Compose]

Use split on your search text to make it an array of strings. [Compose_2]

Split formula: split(outputs('Compose'),' ')

After that take the string you want to match in another compose action. [Compose_3]

After this use apply to each and pass Output of compose 2. And in condition use contains function and match it to true value. 

contains formula: contains(items('Apply_to_each'),outputs('Compose_3'))

If its true then its present and if its false. Its not present.
