Flow Update Item for a linked column linking 2 lists

Hi,

I have two sharepoint lists and a linked column in the child one looks up a parent title column. 

In flow i create a child item from the parent item and then try to update the child item column feilds, however i don't get offered the linked field values to update - how in flow can i update these?

I mean linked by a lookup from the child list to the parent list.  (1 parent to N children)

Hi @abm 

Sure, the 1st 3 bits get and update the parent list item, then i create the child list item and update it where possible - all that is OK.

BUT i can't get to see the lookup field so that i might update it also with its parent lookup reference.

Hi,

Could you remove the update step, save the flow. Go back to the main menu. Then open the flow, edit and add the update flow action again?

Thanks @abm , sorry but that did not work - i was only offered the same options again - without the look up field. 

What made you think this might work, should i pursue this idea and remove and re-add other areas?

Generally if you add the field after configuring the flow sometimes you won't see the fields straight away. Ok try to create another flow and add the update action method and see whether that is working or not. 

Also could you please post your SharePoint list lookup column schema screenshot.

Hi @abm ,

Actually what you were saying was right - it should have shown - however i'd wrongly built the list.

In the list settings i'd set "Get information from" properly,

But "In this column"  I'd chosen the option "title (linked to Item)" , not just plain "Title".

When i changed that to  just plain "Title", then indeed i could see the lookup field on the Update Item step as you'd suggested.
