Flow did not Fire when Email Received

I am trying to use the Microsoft 'On new email with attachment' template flow to create a file in a SharePoint Library.

Here is the evidence that the email was received to the Outlook Inbox. I also have an 'onmicrosoft. email - I sent it to both, just in case. the flow never fired.

Here is the flow trigger. The flow never fired. What am I missing?

Hi @Phineas . Apparently you sent the file as an Onedrive link, and not as attached. Could you please confirm it?

I was more attentive this time and the flow did fire, thank you.

Can you tell me whether this flow will 'overwrite' an existing file in the library that has the same name, make a second copy of the file, kick back an error, other?

Hi @Phineas ,

If the flow find an existing file with the exact same name, it probably will fail and not overwrite it. If you want to keep both files, there are some possible strategies:

1. Add a "timestamp" to the name when creating the file. It will prevent you to have 2 files with the exact same name;

2. Before create a file, insert an action to "list the files inside a folder", add a loop (apply to each) and test if the name of any of the files is identical to the name that you intended to give to the new file. If yes, you can add a "_2" to the name of the new file or take any other action to handle the duplicated names.

I don't need to keep both.

The same Excel workbook, with the same name just with slightly different content, comes to an email inbox once or twice a week.

I need this flow to overwrite the existing version in the SharePoint Library every time a new workbook arrives in the inbox.

Can I update this flow to achieve this goal, or do I need to create a different flow?

Hi @Phineas ,

You don't need a different flow. In this case, you can include the following steps in your flow:

1. Before create de SP File, list all files in a SP folder (you can do it by using the "List Folder" action, with SP connector).

2. Add a filter to get only the files with the same name of the Excel file from the body of the previous action.

3. Create a conditional statement where you will test if the quantity of files is zero or not. You can get the quantity of files by using the length expression on the result of the filtered list (the expression to get the length will be similar to "length(body('Filter_array'))").

4. If yes, so the file exists, you use the action "Update File" from SP connector, assigning the attached file to your trigger email as "File content".

5. If not, so you do not have a file yet, you use your existent action to create a new file.
