Thanks to some help from @trice602 I now have a flow that can monitor incoming email with specific keywords, parse the email BODY, look for a URL to a PDF file, and download (or upload) to a specific folder on my OneDrive. https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/Extract-URL-from-Email-body-and-download-file/td-...
The way it currently saves the file is by specifying an exact path/filename. I would like to have the file saved with the name in the URL if possible --OR-- specify a filename of my own. I've played around with some tutorials and used the "Format Data by Examples" expression builder and it's not quite getting what I'd like.
Here is a URL example.

Hi @mohuddle ,
Here's some framework for you to implement; you will need to modify as needed but here in my test, I was able to get the file name.
My sample file name inside the URL:
Next I find the character position of ".pdf" in the URL.
Next I use substring to get the file name.
So, character position 158 - 21 = 137
so my substring expression really is
substring(variables('url'),sub(body('Find_text_position'),21),25)
substring(variables('url'),137,25)
start in position 137 and get 25 character length.
The thing you will need to validate is if the file name always starts with a 4 digit prefix, otherwise you will run into issues. But with this example and the URL you provided, this worked on the first attempt.

Well, I'll be, it worked first time through for me as well. I'm starting to see how these steps (actions) are doing what I used to with Unix with tools like sed, awk, and tr. Cool stuff! Thanks @trice602 .
So, I built this in a separate flow. How do I (or can I) plug this into the other flow that is pulling the file down and saving it to OneDrive? I've seen the option to create a parallel branch, is that what I would do here? Add this "next to" the other code, then bring in the filename at the end?
Hi @mohuddle ,
Glad this worked for you on the first try too! Please mark as a solution as there are lots of searches to dynamically name a file by some content in an email body - it will help others find our discussion.
Ok, so I think you just need to add these two steps:
The first as you recall finds the character position of ".pdf" in the email body URL. Then the next compose finds the dynamic file name and you will use the output of that dynamic file name as your file next in your Upload to OneDrive action in your other flow.
So your destination file path should look something like this below. Remember in my test I had mine hard-coded to test.pdf, now we will use the output from the compose action above.
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a pretty cool flow; I learned a lot too!
Hi @mohuddle ,
It looks like your trigger is when a new email arrives so it will fire on-demand 365/24/7. You can change the trigger at any time by right-clicking and delete, the add a new trigger. When you do that, you will need to repair actions below it that were dependent on the trigger's dynamic content.
So based on what I see above in your flow, when you get a new Amazon email, this should start automatically.
