Dear Community Team,
We are having the below scenario and would need expert inputs on whether this is by design in Power Automate:
We are creating multiple items in SharePoint list from SPFx using REST API. We have a flow set up on the list to trigger when an item is created or modified and we are observing that though we are adding multiple items for eg 2 items to the list the flow is triggered only once, however if we see the output of the Item Created /Modified call in flow history we observe that 2 of the items are being returned. So we are wondering is this by design that though we have multiple items created with in span of 1 mins flow would trigger only one instance? We would like to understand what determines the new instance to be triggered for a given flow in case of SharePoint list item trigger is it not new item addition or modification? Is there any role of eTag from SharePoint here? Appreciate any inputs on this.
Thanks
Hi @Padmaja
Flow should trigger based on the condition you set. If you create 10 records in one minute flow should trigger 10 times. You mentioned Item Created /Modified call in flow history we observe that 2 of the items are being returned. Is that flow run time history?
Thanks

Learn more from my blogWe do not have any additional conditions on the trigger itself. yes when we examine Flow Run history, in the Body of the trigger for the flow instance that is triggered we could see 2 of the items that we created are getting returned there instead of 1 single list item. Appreciate any inputs on this.
Hi @Padmaja
Could of things to check.
1. Make sure there are no other flows removing the record under a specified condition. Most likely this is a No but still worth to check it.
2. Put a delay after the trigger and see if it behaves differently.
Thanks

Learn more from my blog@abm- Checked and made sure the item is not getting deleted. Added the delay after the trigger which also doesn't help. I created 2 items, flow does trigger only once and run history Body value still shows both of the items getting returned.
Hi @Padmaja
Could you please post a screenshot of your flow and run history?
Thanks

Learn more from my blogJust create the flow from scratch and manually select the trigger Event and manually link to target list and things should work as normal, i.e. only single item returned. Don't using any of the Power automate predefined Flow Template from the List screen's Integrate options which auto links the flow trigger event to the target list.
I also faced the same issue of where the Trigger When an item is created or modified on SharePoint list was returning multiple items and automatically putting For all Items Loop when accessing any item property. This happened when I started my flow using the predefined Power Automate Templates from the List Integration options thinking the auto linking with the target List this will save me time of searching and linking the List to Trigger Step. After trying to debug & play around various settings including setting concurrency to 1 for Trigger Step, etc nothing resolved the unnecessary forced For all Items loop appearing for every time i accessed any modified List item property in an action. I finally gave up and created a new flow from scratch by manually selecting a new When an item is created or modified on SharePoint list trigger and manually linking to the Site and List and i was now only getting 1 item returned from the trigger.
I know this is an old thread but for anyone who stumbles on this issue, here's how to fix it:
What you're doing above is telling Power Automate to run the flow once per item even when multiple items are updated at once. Based on you created your flow, this trigger gets configured differently, and that's why you don't always see it. If you look at a flow that is running once per item, you'll see this is the configuration its using.

Cheers,
Matt
Great.
Now how to deal if we want to start flow for each update ?
Scenario:
I have a list with item ID = 1, column C1 = ""
-> I update item 1 with C1 = "A"
-> I update immediately item 1 with C1 = "B"
--> both update done before the recurring trigger (in my case: SharePoint/When an item is created or modified => 1 min)
I'd like to log or send an email for each update.
In versioning I get 2 new version and can find there both updates.
But
flow is triggered one and I get only C1="B"
-> how to change settings to get/trigger for all changes ?
I seems that triggerOutput?triggerstate is the key for the array split ?
But it is not clear...

i have struggled for days with this issue, thanks to @mattmat , managed to move on with my flow 🙂
