Get Files (properties only) fails when "Included Nested Items"=YES

I have a document library with about 140,000 items, in nested folders.

I need to take action on every file in a given folder, including files in nested sub-folders.

Here is the action, very straightforward. In the final version the "Limit Entries to Folder" will be a variable, but this is a simplified test that still fails.

GerryBrimacombe_0-1618587438715.png

This should return 4 folders and 3 files, plus a few other files in the subfolders. it returns nothing:

However, when I run with "Nested"=No, it returns the folder content correctly (without subfolder contents, of course).

So what's happening? Is it because of the large library? A bug with "Get items"? I am open to any suggestion on how best to solve this. (I have been trying HTTP action and List Folders -- neither give me the "nested" capabilities I need).

Thank you in advance,

Gerry

Hi @GerryBrimacombe

Could you try to enable pagination on the "Get files (properties only)" action, and get 1000 items, for example?:

 Hope it helps!

Same problem here. Including nested items makes the step return no files.

Weird.

Did you ever find a solution?  I'm working with a much smaller number of file and when I set nested items to yes, the flow doesn't work.

Hi @GerryBrimacombe

Go to SharePoint list then go in site content and then confirm what's type your documents.

Selecting "Yes" sets the viewScopeOption to RecursiveAll, which includes folders and is probably what is causing the issues.

I have been using FilesOnly and it works.

To use FilesOnly select the Enter custom value option and type FilesOnly

Hope this helps others that are getting this issue.

I tried your approach. But FilesOnly also didn't work for me. But with using Recursive instead of RecursiveAll I finally got a list of all my files in the specified folder and its subfolders.

Using Recursive worked for me too. Thanks!

This was the solution for me thanks. Thank you!

I am having the same issue.  Where did you put "recursive"?

@Daniel1987

The field that says "Include Nested Items" instead of selecting "Yes" or "No" choose the "Enter custom value". Then you can type "Recursive"

Hi, I had the same issue but this "Recursive" worked for me BUT as im using this to delete files they now no longer show up in the recycle bin in SP?  without the "Recursive" my power automate only deleted the files within the root folder i choose but the sub folders. but with "Recursive" added it deletes the files within the sub folders also as wanted, but now they do not appear in the recycle bin? very strange.

If trying all of the above didn't work for you, you should;

  1. Enable pagination on the "Get files (properties only)" action
  2. Change "include nested files" to Recursive

I was having the same issue.  Confirmed; this worked for me in a small grouping of (15) files.
