Get embedded attachment from outlook body?

Hi Every 🙂

I get order conformation in outlook mail body and not as attached under the subject.

I am trying to get the attachment and save them in the sharepoint but no luck 🙂

Does anyone have an idea at how to do it? Any link?

This is how the body of the mail looks like.

HI @Khan321,

It looks like it is indeed a table (although I am prepared to be corrected) however, you would need to inspect the html code and look for

<table> LOTS OF DATA & FORMATTING </table>

Essentially look for some recognisable text which is appearing in the table, then look for the start and end points.

If you find table, then follow the steps on this page

Hi @Khan321,

I think that you will need to provide a little more detail for someone to be able to help.

Can you provide an example of what the body of the email looks like?

@Redders  Thanks for message.

Sorry i should have given some more info already.

This is how the body of the mail looks like :

Please let me know if you need further info.

Hi @Khan321,

I think you might have your work cut out for you on this one however, this may be a good place to start.

https://tomriha.com/parse-data-from-an-html-table-in-an-email-with-power-automate/

What it looks like you need to do is find the table within the body of the email, the link above should help you get that. It may however need some further work as the table isn't a normal looking table.

Follow the steps and see how you get on

Hi @Khan321,

If it is in the body of the email, you will need to understand what data is being provided. If it is a PDF or image, then you will see this in the body and you can look for a solution to obtain it from there.

Set up a trigger "When a new email arrives" set the 'from' field to your own email address, now add a compose and add the dynamic content of body from the email.

Redders_2-1663325250395.png

Save it and click test manually, now resend the email to your email address.

The below is an example of what you will see when the test has completed

Redders_0-1663325061045.png

The output will show you exactly what is being provided in the body of the email.

This link https://tomriha.com/parse-data-from-an-html-table-in-an-email-with-power-automate/ shows how you extract the HTML table from the body however, it could be adapted for other things like images just by modifying the "table" element in this screenshot but you need to know what you are looking for first.

Redders_3-1663325495137.png

I have assumed that the pdf is essentially HTML tables as I haven't seen an embedded pdf in the body of an email before but if it is, then you will find it in the outputs of your compose

I hope this helps

Hi @Khan321,

Lets find out what it is.

This bit does help if you know a little HTML however, I'm sure that you will learn on the way if you do not.

I would look all of the text to find what I was looking for however, lets use another website to view the output better.

Copy all of the text in the output and https://codebeautify.org/htmlviewer.

On this page, there is a section on the left hand side where you can paste in the copied text from your output. On the right hand side, you can see how the HTML should be displayed. This is what my output looked like

Redders_1-1663333515581.png

I have circled different parts of the output to demonstrate that you can identify different parts of the code to what you can see when the HTML is formatted. I know it doesn't show much on mine but if you paste in the html to this website, then you can inspect the results against the code, you should be able to identify what it is that you can see.

Once you have that, you can then start to look to see how you can extract what you need

@Redders  Hi 🙂

Once again thanks for your help.

It is table and when i try to follow the link i get some issue there.

When i filter array and the outpot is following:

Khan321_2-1663581440684.png

Khan321_0-1663581005471.png

but when i use compose 2 try to get the table with split it gives only the (CSS) the background color of page.

following:

Khan321_1-1663581184068.png

I am using the in compose 2:  split(first(body('Filter_array')),'</table>')[0]

Thank you for you time @Redders  🙂

Naji

Hi @Khan321,

I think that I am at the limit of my knowledge and I don't think I'm going to be able to help you further, hopefully someone else will be able to assist. At least you have got a few steps further.

If no one else responds to this thread, try opening a new one with a title like "Extracting HTML table from email body", this then would allow people (who might be able to help) see the thread more easily. Also, try and show as much as possible i.e. adding screenshots of your flow so far and adding the output code (using the </>) negating any sensitive information

@Redders  Thank you so much 🙂  You are an amazing person.

i will try to wait for a coulple  day otherwise i will create another thread with all the details you described.

Once again thanks for your time and help 🙂

Hi @Khan321,

I think that I just added my signature to my last comment as a pointer for whether you liked my comments or if I provided you with a solution for either to be recognised as such.

I think the information that I provided to you helped you understand that the "attachment" was actually a HTML table rather than a file which existed within the body of the email. Was it a full solution for your issue, probably not, could it help you pose your question in a better way, probably.

The key to getting the right sort of help in these forums is being able to summarise the issue concisely for the title of the post, providing the right level of detail  and asking the right questions within your post so that someone can help.

Here is a useful post that I read when first starting out, it helped me better understand
