Getting Survey Responses Variables from Customer Voice

Hi all.

I am trying to recover variables I set into my Customer Voice Survey. So far

  1. I created a Survey
  2. set variables
  3. Create a Power Automate Flow to send my Survey using outlook email to a Customer I get from a ListSirCaju_0-1603584320474.png

This flow is working fine. Customer receives the email with a link to open the Survey. The Survey opens with all variables replacing information I customize with the Survey. Cool!

Now I need another Flow to be triggered when a Customer respond to Survey. An also, be able to RECOVER all variables I set.

  • I tried to use de CDS Trigger "When I record is created, updated or Deleted" but it never triggers.
  • Then I tried to get the basic Form Trigger "When a new Response is Submitted" and "Get Response Details" Both works fine, it's being triggered when I submit the Survey responses.

My problem is that from that on, I can not retrieve the Variables. I tried all CDS options, and can get to it.....

Any Thoughts? It seams that CDS is not getting any entry into entity "Customer Voice Survey Response"

Thanks

@SirCaju

Just confirming what you are saying , the Get Response Details does not return the variables you have in the Survey?

Then I tried to get the Survey via CDS and find the responses using Customer Voice Survey responses entity.

I can get the Survey, but cant find the responses. I may not using the right entity or oData filters 🙄

Here is the rest:

Hi @SirCaju ,

Since Customer voice surveys are integrated with Dynamics , there are several entities in CRM related to Survey and I see survey response entity in it as well. So instead of using Forms when submitted I tried using CDS trigger on Create of Survey Response and I get Context Data in it.

Thanks

Hi ManishJain, thanks for you advice. The point is I tried using "When a record is created in CDS", but for some reason it never triggered. As I could not troubleshooting it 🙄, I went the that direction and tried using those Forms triggers. If you guys have an example of this working, please let us know. Basically is sending an invitation via flow adding variables, and them when response is submitted, be able to get those variables back. In my case, I need to add to an invitation an variable "ID", and be able to get it back when customer submit his response.

Hi @SirCaju ,

I just did the same and it did trigger on Create of Survey Response and I was able to get the context data in it as well.

Thanks

Hello - Did anyone ever find out a way to use the responses from a Customer Voice survey within a Flow? I have it triggering on the creation of a survey response, and I see the context data, but I'm not sure how to actually use that. Any ideas?

I think that's not the better place for such a huge documentation.

Let's do the it in anothre way :just describe the problem and I will create a blog post.

Short answer : all the answers are stored in an entity as a single response, so you can create a trigger based on line created on that entity ...

Hi,

I know this forum is old but a Microsoft MVP has a good article on how you can capture this information:

Sending Notifications From The Details Of Survey Responses (meganvwalker.com)

The beginning of her article has everything you would need to capture survey responses.

this is your solution
