Getting attachment from Microsoft Teams Message

Hi All! I've been working on this flow for the past month or so with various methods and can't seem to pin down something that would actually work. I've been looking at the two other similar threads to this, but neither of them seem to work for me. I'm looking to essentially download an attachment from a teams message, but I'm having trouble actually isolating the attachment and downloading it, but all of the prep before and after that seems to be working well.

I've gotten to a point where I can create a file and folder, the file populates with whatever name I give it, as well as content, but it doesn't give the actual content I'm actually looking for.  The image below is what my flow looks like so far. The result of this flow is just whatever is contained in the 'content' field from the body of the selected message.

The image below this is part of my output. I can isolate the content field using the triggerBody() function, but I can't figure out how I'm going to download the attachment content after extracting the attachment ID. Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi @cw2002,

I would use the message id from the trigger action to retrieve the message details. That response should contain an attachments array which actually has the contenturl of the item in it. You could use that url to retrieve the content via Get file content using path type of action.

Below is an example.

This sample assumes there is only one attachment added to the selected message. Obviously, in a proper setup I would suggest to build in some conditions/checks if that is actually the case.

This is the expression for the contentUrl value of the first attachment:

body('Get_message_details')?['attachments'][0]?['contentUrl']

I actually used a couple of expression to split that Url into a Site Address and File Path portion:

slice(body('Get_message_details')?['attachments'][0]?['contentUrl'], nthIndexOf(body('Get_message_details')?['attachments'][0]?['contentUrl'], '/', 5))

substring(body('Get_message_details')?['attachments'][0]?['contentUrl'], 0, nthIndexOf(body('Get_message_details')?['attachments'][0]?['contentUrl'], '/', 5))

Wow, there's not a chance I would've stumbled across that in tinkering about. I'll give it a shot and report back with results!

@Expiscornovus Does anyone have a video or tutorial on how to get the Teams attachment details and do something with it if the Teams message only contains this and nothing else in the message body when you try to Get Message Details?

ianwuk_0-1673257002417.png

I believe the Teams message that you are referring to would be from another application in the form of a notification. Those messages' body or the actual content will be in the 'attachments' section of the Teams message. You can use triggerBody() function to get the actual content.

triggerBody()?['attachments'][0]['content']
